It is that time of year again. The time when the cameras go dark and we are reduced to watching Google Earth and countdown clocks.
I have had so many fantastic moments in 2011 that it is very hard to choose one. However I think that the moment which will live longer than any other is the arrival of EJ at 2.15pm on Thursday 24th March. Now this would normally qualify as moment of the year but in this case it did because that is the exact time I had predicted.

Mind you my trips to Dyfi and Loch Garten were both very special. I have followed ospreys on the internet for 13 seasons now. I think that 2011 was probably the best.
So what were your favourite moments of the osprey season??

Thank you, Tiger.
I don't suppose anyone has a picture or video of Bynack's struggle on the side of the nestcup?
EDIT: I've found the reference to the incident on page 8 of the Daily Thread of June 14th 2011
Some of My favorite moments were watching Bynack dive under Tore at the first hint of danger.

A wonderful thread, Tiger. Just loved the vid of Odin arriving and that picture of Odin - stunning.
There are quite a few special moments for me but I think one of the best was when the first egg hatched and we knew then that it was fertile and a chick emerged to eventually be named Tore, then the second unfortunately failed, but joy, the third egg hatched and we had Bynack - wonderful moments.

12 July is my personal highlight - I was having a sneaky third mug of tea just before 9.00 a.m. when Tore fledged while I was watching live. She moved to the edge of the nest a couple of minutes after EJ had flown off, flapped her wings briefly and went as if she had done it 100 times before.

Good morning all and my favourite moment and there are many but for managing to see Tore fledge. First time I had ever caught this after 3 years of watching. Other favourite moments include my first sight of Odin when I arrived at LG to do my volunteering, he was so magnificent I felt tears welling up and of course Odin catching sight of his first chick, he looked so full of tenderness. Have to agree with Tiger that 2011 has probably been the best ever.

uuh I can't stand watching that again... even if I know it came to a good end. I witnessed it live and had to leave the computer after a short while of watching as I was too distressed to continue following the struggle of poor Bynack...
So one of my favourite moments of the season was coming bac to my computer and seeing little Storm (i.e. Bynack) stand on his feet again.
Another favourite "moment" was the day, the LG cam was back on air (no ospreys yet), because I knew that it all started over again now, what had fascinated me so much in 2010 (my first season)
and last but not least: the Dyfi Video of Nora, feeding her chicks for the very first time in her life... you could witness Nora learning how to do the job, trying to be as careful as possible... meanwhile she's become a pro :-)
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
So many great moments this year - what wonderful parents our two are! I also thought that the moment when Odin appeared & everyone could be heard cheering at the Centre was a highlight - thanks for the video clip. (wipes away a tear....)
Was struck especially this year by how Tore joined in at such an early age, in defending the nest from intruders - she imitated EJ in the alarm call!
Being my first year of watching they have ALL been great moments for me. I find it hard to single out any one in particular, but I found the funny ones were when Odin appeared on the nest & did a bit of food calling to himself and to see Nora and Monty struggle with the garfish was hilarious. The exciting ones were when Tore first fledged, if it hadnt been for the videos on the DU I would have missed it as we were actually at the LG centre that morning, and Tore had fledged a couple of hours earlier, but it was also exciting to be there and experience the enthusiastic responses from Caroline as Tore did a fly past just as we arrived. The "heart in the mouth" one was Bynack on his back maybe this was the incident that made him the fighter and screecher that he is today, but don't we just love him. Now all we can wish for them is a safe migration and a re-appearance of EJ & Odin, I know for sure I will be watching the webcam next year to see this great event happen if it does, as it was magical to watch the video of Odin arriving this year that was posted above in this thread.
