Hi All:
jsb: At the end of the previous Weekly Chat are two responses to your posting about the birds with French accents. One is from me and not especially profound. The other is from Diane, and reads as follows : Lovely article. I always have two pairs of house wrens (known as jenny wrens here) who return about the same time in the spring. Even though both females are house wrens, I can always tell which bird is singing, no matter where they are. I don't know whether the slight difference is because they winter in different regions or because individual wrens have distinct sounds. I always put up houses for them, but, this year, one pair decided that it would be more fun to nest in the nook above my propane gas tank, where the dials and controls are. So I had to fiercely guard the nest from the gas company employees who periodically check the gas levels. The gas company guys think I'm looney but they didn't dare to defy me and bother the wrens!
Everyone: AQ posted this one: Adelaide 10.50 am 12 C. Pumpkin soup for lunch thanks to friend giving me 2 large butternuts. Today is the Bay to Birdwood Classic for cars 1956-1977. Once upon a time they left from Glenelg (the Bay), but lack of space means they now leave from West Beach (2 km north). They travel about 70 km (44 miles) to Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills where there is a Motor Museum. Next year is the run for the Vintage cars (pre-1956). A picnic day. A bit chilly today but not as chilly as Wattle's.
And Teresa had this tip: If you delete something by mistake it is worth holding the Ctrl key down and clicking on Z. In lots of instances it undoes your last action - not always though but still worth a try.
AQ and Teresa: Hope it was okay to copy and paste your comments on this page - didn't want anyone to miss them.
auntie: good morning. Fascinating about Jukka, I hope you'll keep us informed. I hope you'll put this information under the Forum called 'Tracking Other Ospreys' as lots of people will be interested. Here is the link

Then just go to the end of the comments and 'reply' as you would under this forum.
Thank you so much. It's about 10 C here in Bristol currently. There will be a high of 15 C sometime during the day. Cool indeed. But it should be dry.
Thanks for that Auntie. It will be interesting to see the route that Jukka takes.
Much colder today on TI but Hamish has his blanket in the garden already and the sun is shining .

Scotland Revealed (for those not aware, it is a Scottish Television programme with stunning views of Scotland.)
The third and final episode is now available for streaming from the stv player website. In fact all three episodes are there. The third episode includes Highland scenery, showing the Grampian area where LG is situated and there is a brief view of Rothiemurchus Forest and commentary about the old Scots Pine forests. Also included are the areas of Deeside (River Dee), Aberdeen and some of the East Coast features.
The HD version requires a good broadband connection.

and there is also an SD version as well.

Caerann so distressing to read this. Wolves are such magnificent animals. Terrible to think they were introduced back and now they want to cull them. I watch a lotof nature programmes and the ones i have seen about wolves shows what a close knit family packs are. They are simply wonderful with their offspring and could teach some humans a thing or two about family life. I pray this won't go ahead but do keep us posted.

Good morning auntie it sounds cold there. It is certainly a lot cooler here but not as cool as you are having. My garden birds which have been mostly absent over summer have now turned up in force and are managing to clear a food tray by lunchtime. Mostly sparrows although we do have bluetits, blackbirds and starlings. Occassionally I get a female sparrowhawk in the garden and she is a magniicent sight. Squirrels are visiting as well and burying the peatnuts I put out in the garden and on the lawn.l I had so missed all the birds in the garden over summer, they tend to find natural food during the summer months so to have them back and singing in my garden is a treat. No matter how fed up I might feel at times the birds just bring a smile to my face.
Do keep us up to date with Jukka won't you. Hope he has a safe journey.
Good morning Carol have really been looking forward to Autumn Watch. Different format this year one episode a week on a Friday evening but it will go on for 8 weeks I think I read somewhere. Good job we are not osprey watching as I don't know how I would fit everything in. Have a good day.
aquilareen you are right when nature unleashes its fury so many people suffer. My heart goes out to them all. They are people who do not have any wealth to speak of now and how on earth do they go on.
Thanks folks for the info about Autumn watch starting ... I hadn't realised it was going to be on! I too am loving the birds being back in my garden ... I could sit and watch them for hours ... if I let myself :))
