Hi All:
jsb: At the end of the previous Weekly Chat are two responses to your posting about the birds with French accents. One is from me and not especially profound. The other is from Diane, and reads as follows : Lovely article. I always have two pairs of house wrens (known as jenny wrens here) who return about the same time in the spring. Even though both females are house wrens, I can always tell which bird is singing, no matter where they are. I don't know whether the slight difference is because they winter in different regions or because individual wrens have distinct sounds. I always put up houses for them, but, this year, one pair decided that it would be more fun to nest in the nook above my propane gas tank, where the dials and controls are. So I had to fiercely guard the nest from the gas company employees who periodically check the gas levels. The gas company guys think I'm looney but they didn't dare to defy me and bother the wrens!
Everyone: AQ posted this one: Adelaide 10.50 am 12 C. Pumpkin soup for lunch thanks to friend giving me 2 large butternuts. Today is the Bay to Birdwood Classic for cars 1956-1977. Once upon a time they left from Glenelg (the Bay), but lack of space means they now leave from West Beach (2 km north). They travel about 70 km (44 miles) to Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills where there is a Motor Museum. Next year is the run for the Vintage cars (pre-1956). A picnic day. A bit chilly today but not as chilly as Wattle's.
And Teresa had this tip: If you delete something by mistake it is worth holding the Ctrl key down and clicking on Z. In lots of instances it undoes your last action - not always though but still worth a try.
AQ and Teresa: Hope it was okay to copy and paste your comments on this page - didn't want anyone to miss them.
Latest weather on TI:
Sunny , Temp 17.0c , Wind NW 5mph , Visibility 30kms , Barometer 1028hPa rising ,
Dewpoint 10.0c , Wet bulb 14.2c , Humidity 56%.
Can anyone remember when it last rained. Got to be the driest September on record.
Hamish is sunbathing in the garden again.
Serenaded by car washers , hoovers , lawn mowers and in the distance I heard a lesser spotted leaf blower this morning. It is much quieter during the week when everyone is at work school etc.
Off to walk the dog and then sit in the garden for a while.

Can confirm no rain in September here, another lovely day today. Funnily enough I was going to ask you about the lack of rainfall, I assume that you don't have a raingauge? If not can't Brains rig one up?
BTW did Talisman fly close to TI on his way south?
Sandy : Can confirm no rain guage at the moment. I think Talisman was a little to far west to fly over TI. We shall see when Roy produces his maps.
FAB
Morning all.
jsb: Nice litle story re your neighbor, you must've made her days just that bit more interesting. :-)
Auntie:Great photos! Still can't get over the view. Any chance the sea eagles will take over the nest? Are they fish eaters too?
Alan: But you're in Huntingdonshire, right? So do incoming birds have to show passports before they can land? Assume a lesser-spotted leafblower less noisy than the great horned version.
We want pictures of the lesser spotted leafblower!! I've never been lucky enough to spot one in the wild!
Dry and quite bright here, though definitely colder now. We had drizzle one day this week, but it didnt last long enough to wet the ground. Some garden plants now drooping & thirsty.
Dog-on-a-diet doesn't look much thinner yet, but like humans, it takes a while to take the weight off. Ecstactic at present, as our No.1 son has arrived and is playing tug.
So enjoy reading all the postings from around the globe, what an international site this has become.
Only just got the chance to have a quick 'look in'. Hi everyone. Am I the only one to have a GE that has NOT updated to Rothers new co-ordinates? On my GE Rothes is still by the Sturgeon Farm !!! :(
Hi Cirrus. I can't keep up with the techy stuff & rely on you others to tell me where she has got to- wonder what will be reported tomorrow... Also Mallachie, who is looking as if she is going to make an effort now again.
Hi Cirrus ... you are not alone ... my GE hasn't updated yet either ... hopefully it will tomorrow ... looking forward to finding out tomorrow where Rothes has moved on to :))

Cirrus: GE still not updating. :-(
HI Annette - GE has always updated ! except for just now - Rothes' latest positon near the border with spain that Richard told us about in the Blog ..'Rothes Finally Moves' ....
The problem with my GE is that all the informational boxes (with place maker dates - towns and cities etc) are empty of information. When I input a date for a place marker, it doesn't show.
Can I take it then, Annette, that your GE does show Rothes on the border with Spain?
And are everyone's pages glacially slow in loading as mine are tonight?
