LG OSPREY GABFEST

July21, Thursday 9:06 p.m Ohio USA; Friday 2:o6 am UK

BRIGHT & BREEZY, as you see I am acting on your suggestion to update THE GABFEST thread.   Btw, earlier I switched back to the cam to check out the noise you talked about, but by the time I got there all was quiet, as it is now at an empty nest.  Now, at 2:37 I hear a cheep that does not sound like an osprey on the nest.  Also another bird sound that I cannot describe.
SUNSHINE<  I too like it here at THE GABFEST.   I feel a freedom here that I never did on the main blog.  I felt there like my comments always turned out too long & if I wanted to vere off onto another topic I didn't feel I should do that.  Here, who cares?   I do hope we can keep the GABFEST going,  but there is no point in keeping it open if no one else is interested just to  talk to myself.  .  If the three of us keep it open, maybe eventually others will find & join us to chat about what interests them.

Whats wrong with grandmothers? i have one myself. Lovely lady.  She read your post and said a lonely hearts club should be called Sgt Peppers-  when i asked her why?     she just smiled and said " dont mind me "       Can you shed any light as to what she meant?

  • Hi all you have been busy today :)

Hope you enjoy your Trip Keith which I know you will,  also thanks for the info you gave june.

Hi Sunshine nice to see you back, so much to digest on here and my head is all over the place with work. Brought home some work I have done today and in the bin it has gone.  Need to start afresh tomorrow.  Its not funny it has to be finished tomorrow or the S... will hit the fan.

Tricky I see warnings have been put out about your visit to my neck of the woods, Oh I wish I was going.

June thanks for the new thread and moving over there :)

I will be very surprised if Bynack goes down through Italy. That is a very long and dangerous route. I think he will move more to the west with perhaps a longer crossing of the med.

I was looking at the map and he seems to be going ~

DIJON ~ LYON ~ TOULON which is on the coast.

As you say from anywhere along the coast here its one hell of a flight across the Med to Africa.

But he has done it once (North Sea) so it should hold no fears for him :)

    A very old Shropshire Lad.

  • Tricky - on the subject of _feathered_ birds on N Yorks coast, Filey Brig is supposed to be a really good place for migrants. I know the local bird club have early morning ringing sessions on the Brig at this time of year, which non-ringers can also attend (at least, my friend's hubby goes).

I must admit the most exotic thing I've seen there was a close-up view of an exhausted bonxie - but then I mostly go to Filey to see friends, not purely for birding (getting up before 6 not compatible with staying in the same house as a teething infant, especially when you're there to see/ support it's mother!) It's a bit late for gannet chicks/ other seabirds at Bempton Cliffs and round to Flamborough Head, unfortunately.

  • Alan thank you for your info and very much appreciated.

Sorry all I am so tired

Thanks for the info -  hope the childs teething finishes soon - and i will look at filey brig - nighty night
