LG OSPREY GABFEST

July21, Thursday 9:06 p.m Ohio USA; Friday 2:o6 am UK

BRIGHT & BREEZY, as you see I am acting on your suggestion to update THE GABFEST thread.   Btw, earlier I switched back to the cam to check out the noise you talked about, but by the time I got there all was quiet, as it is now at an empty nest.  Now, at 2:37 I hear a cheep that does not sound like an osprey on the nest.  Also another bird sound that I cannot describe.
SUNSHINE<  I too like it here at THE GABFEST.   I feel a freedom here that I never did on the main blog.  I felt there like my comments always turned out too long & if I wanted to vere off onto another topic I didn't feel I should do that.  Here, who cares?   I do hope we can keep the GABFEST going,  but there is no point in keeping it open if no one else is interested just to  talk to myself.  .  If the three of us keep it open, maybe eventually others will find & join us to chat about what interests them.

  • B&B pleased everything turned out ok last night with your dog,bet you won't be doing that again.

Yes I too will be happy when Tore has crossed the channel ok.

  • B & B It is warming up in Glasgow the next few days - and you are correct it is a few degrees colder up here further north. We are going to take advantege of the couple of days of high pressure by going up to Aviemore on Thursday and my wife wants to stay overnight at the Coylumbridge Hotel. I have three free vouchers to play golf at Spey Valley and its a lovely walk beside the Spey in view of the Cairngorms. Will leave Loch Lomond until next week - then its off to the Saharah (19/9) where it will be a little warmer.

I hope you are settled a bit better tonight - what an awful experience to loose your dog - don,t give it away again to someone you do not know.

  • Thanks Lowry and Tricky and not banging on about that anymore but the original girl came to walk him again tonight and told her never. I have learnt my lesson. I should not have posted on here and sorry folks. I was at my wits end but over now lol. Got aching joints or I should have however the only problem I got here is looking up what the Ospreys are doing and eyes a very tired.

Have to be honest and Tore does have to take the English Channel and she is poised to do it and fully fuelled and Bynack looks like he is heading for the Alps but Richards last report says he 100 miles west of Strasbourg, looked it up and if he is West then I think it is good but he does need a stopover.

Would love to see observations, I am learning but as i said this rollercoaster ride is maybe not for me. I am on it and staying :)

Best news ever Tore is over the Channel and as Sunshine says, not worried and the best news ever when she is over the water.

  • Hi everyone.

Well I just deleted what I said talk about getting things wrong lol.

Goes for a quiet sit down in the corner :)

  • Keith it needs to warm up and I cannot believe how cold I felt on Saturday. I like Aviemore for supplies and is a place I could live but also so many others. I would love to explore Spey valley however it is difficult with someone that just likes driving and driving and miss the old Bambi because so tiny and easier to stop at places.

ChrisS maybe the computer experts can put your comment back on again or maybe you can. I look forward to them.:)

I am learning and every comment is good for me

here's looking for a report that Tore is in France and Bynack is taking a proper stop over.

    Nite all B&B

  • That is me off to bed and ChrisS as I said no corners here and brill you are here.

    Do like reading your comments.

Must go, have to be up early and look tomorrow for updates :)

  • Thank you for the kind words Bright&Breezy :)

I deleted my own post because when I logged in the first thing I read was your last paragraph and it read as though Tore had crossed the channel. Not your fault it was me being lazy and not reading the whole post by you.

Then I couldnt get back on think that was due to my end and not the site.

  • According to RICHARD'S COMMENT on the main blog Bynack is proceeding South at the leisurely rate of about 30 miles a day and is now near Neufchateau, france.  Rothes & Tore  remain in their same locations.

  • Thanks June, I have just come on to check!

  •     Considering the South East path Bynack has taken to date, I am wondering what his future path will be. Instead of closing in on GE looking for rivers & lakes, if we back off & look at the larger picture it leads to some interesting speculation.

He has crossed the Channel, but he still has to get across the Mediterranean. If he continues his general course of SE  he would cross the Alps & could follow land to the tip of Italy's toe.  Wouldn't this then take him through the brunt of the Sahara?  A little more to the west and he could cross the two big islands, which would still take him into major desert, wouldn't it?  More to the west he would avoid the Alps, but this would take him to the widest part of the Mediterranean Sea. - but not an impossible flight, we know.

What would it mean to an osprey to cross the Alps? Height? Cold? Distance?  Doesn't sound good to me.  On the other hand I can visualize Bynack soaring above the snow covered peaks and through the valleys.  Makes a pretty picture, but how practical is it? Or would they be the barrier that would veer him to the west?

Lots to think about and look forward to in the coming days & weeks.
