LG OSPREY GABFEST

July21, Thursday 9:06 p.m Ohio USA; Friday 2:o6 am UK

BRIGHT & BREEZY, as you see I am acting on your suggestion to update THE GABFEST thread.   Btw, earlier I switched back to the cam to check out the noise you talked about, but by the time I got there all was quiet, as it is now at an empty nest.  Now, at 2:37 I hear a cheep that does not sound like an osprey on the nest.  Also another bird sound that I cannot describe.
SUNSHINE<  I too like it here at THE GABFEST.   I feel a freedom here that I never did on the main blog.  I felt there like my comments always turned out too long & if I wanted to vere off onto another topic I didn't feel I should do that.  Here, who cares?   I do hope we can keep the GABFEST going,  but there is no point in keeping it open if no one else is interested just to  talk to myself.  .  If the three of us keep it open, maybe eventually others will find & join us to chat about what interests them.

  • Irene is going right through my very favorite vacation spot, The Outer Banks of North Carolina.  They have outlasted many a storm in the past & they will this one, too.  All the people up & down the coast, natives & tourists alike need our prayers.

  • Hi B&B not much chance of seeing Sunshine today if he only comes out when the sun shines,it's been a terrible day here today.

Just been chatting with my Eagle friends across the pond and hoping they stay safe from Irene.

  • June, one of my Eagle friends lives on the Outer banks of NC he said the other day he was staying, but have just heard he has evacuated, maybe for the best.

  • B&B, I was giving a late response to Sunshine's post from yesterday. Haven't seen him today.    Autumn - fall, we use both interchangeably.  Like supper or dinner.  Used to be Breakfast- dinner- supper. Now breakfast - lunch - dinner.  But I'm still inclined to say supper frequently.

  • Lowry, Guess he had second thoughts, eh?  I chuckled at your comment, but of course it isn't funny.  If I were there you better believe I'd be gone  at the first warning.  I've sat out a few high storms there, but never an actual hurricane.  The thing is, there are limited roadways and bridges out of there.  The Outer Banks you know are a series of Islands.  Ocracoke Island is accessible only by ferry.

  • June for once I know you are right, I have been a good girl and gone back on the posts. I have taken the time to read after embarrasing myself earlier however I always do things at 100 miles an hr.

I did notice Diane did say Autumn, seems you have double standards there, Autumn, Fall, Dinner, Supper, disagree with breakfast as lunch as dinner time here is lunch. depends on where you come from in Britain. Even I am confused now :) Having a good chuckle now.

Lowry pleased to see your friend as evacuated. Hope you are well

  • B&B yes we are well.just got webbed feet after all today's rain.

Enjoy your weekend off (extra day)

  • June we were in SC in 2003 when Isabel was due to hit there, but she hit NC instead so we did not have to run.

  • June - I have a holiday home on Lake Beuna Vista Golf course near Orlando - Florida and go over three times a year. There is another Golf Course a few miles away that I play regularly called Osprey Ridge named because of all the Ospreys that nest on the course. You may be able to google it. They put up the tray type attraction nests like you see in Rutland and it attracts them. As I have mentioned before they all live in very close proximaty and in harmony unlike their Scottish cousins. It is great playing golf there and watching the Ospreys - they fly just inches over your head. Wilsd Turkeys roam the course - my wife likes watching them or the aligators coming out of the water on to the fairways.

  • About Hurricanes - When over in Oct 2005 we got caught up in Hurricane Wilma - at the time was visiting Miami. The Hurricane came in off the Gulf of Mexico via the Yucan peninsular and hit Florida at Naples but passed accross the state over to Miami area - I think the eye was just north of us towards Fort Lauderdale. It was very intense and Miami was desimated.
