Hallo all. It's a brand new week!
Hi everyone. Glad all seems well with everyone and Hamish is doing what he does best:)
Mum arrived safely yesterday which is great but means i won't be posting much but just trying to keep up!
Enjoy the weather Margobird/Alan
Gary hope your Mum enjoys her stay and hopefully she will let you have a look in now and then to keep up with things.

Hi Folks: Suspiciously cool here today (in the 60sF) but will leap into the 80s by 11 I'm sure - over 100F in the Valley, but these are normal hot spells for Sept/Oct. Ocean influence back next week they claim.
Auntie: Lovely shots. My favorite is the one where they're looking at the boat. Re population: Los Angeles city has more than 3,000,000 people (usually all on the freeways at the same time!); LA county has almost 10 million!! Yet there are places in the U.S., some not too far from us, where the populations are small and time seems to have stood still (good and bad in that).
Alan: So nice to hear you have sun over there and Hamish is enjoying it.. Relieved that IR has excellent broadband access - was beginning to worry given all the strange stories about ISP providers.
Margobird: Lovely NF link; thanks for that.
Off to do stuff.
I'm still intrigued as to why wind is still measured in mph - or is that just in Alan's garden?

Annette: Wind always seems to be measured that way here. Don't think Alan allows any wind in his garden, except when he needs his leaves blowing away! Your kitchen sounds lovely, especially as its very similar to mine- my tiles have blotches on at random which disguises the dogs footprints nicely, & my cupboards are in something called American Oak, shaker style.
Had 'a man in' this afternoon to put in a new electricity meter, he only took 15 minutes & I found it very difficult to think of things to do which did not involve switching something on! Decided it reminds us, same as when there is a cut in the supply, that we take all these things for granted. (couldn't even do the ironing- hooray!)
We are very lucky as we have cable connection so no probs with the broadband etc.
Off now to delete about 50 unwanted emails, they seem to pile up on me if I don't keep at them.
Diane: Didn't know about this thing called 'canned hunting' - it sounds horrible. It seems that all around the world it's the same, if you have enough money you can pay for just about anything even things which we hope no longer go on these days.
Margobird: Thanks for link to the New Forest, interesting. (Hope you're feeling better these days as I know you've not been well).
Djoan: Thanks for the blog alert! Hi Lindybird!
If you guys haven't checked out Carol's Palemale link on the blog page - it's fabulous!
Here are a couple of photos taken by JL Domec today. It shows an unringed juvenile.
