I offered to start this Topic before my own trip to Scotland, so thought I'd better get on with it.
The idea - somewhere to bring together people's accounts of their visits, photos, useful information, questions from those planning a trip - a sort of scrapbook really.
I still need to write up my own visit, but anyone is welcome to post material or links here.

Careful you do not want to draw the attention of the thread police.

LOL, Tiger! A really useful thread, which I was meaning to go looking for anyway. For others reading back - the Inshriach and Walk Highlands links are still valid. We will be checking out both in a couple of weeks :)
Can anyone recommend a good place in or near Aviemore to take non-local friends for Sunday lunch?

There are nice places in Aviemore. You want to visit Carrbridge which has got nice places and an historic old bridge built after the 1715 rebellion to keep the Jacobites in check.
But the place you want to visit is that café up above Loch Morlich. It is called the Glenmore café
Carrbridge also has the Landmark Forest adventure park if you're bringing children.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Yes we loved the Genmore Cafe.
No good asking us about posh places for Sunday lunch though, we didn't go to any :) Happy enough in pubs and cafes.
With so many people visiting Loch Garten it might be a good time to revive this thread so people can tell us about their visits.
