I offered yesterday to start a new Topic once Bynack had fledged, but as we now have the updated Satellite Tracking page, and biography pages for Tore and Bynack, and there are some tracking results for Tore on Google Earth, I’ve gone ahead with it.
A brief introduction to the ospreys we’re tracking – first, the class of 2011.
Tore – link to her Biography
Tore is the elder of this year’s juveniles, her ring is blue/white 48. She fledged on Tuesday 12th July aged 54 days, and has started to do a little exploring.
Bynack – link to his Biography
Tore’s younger brother, ring blue/white 47. Bynack is aged 53 days today and has yet to fledge.
Edit: He has fledged, at 10.18 am today 16/7.
Rothes – link to her Biography
Rothes is the eldest of EJ and Odin’s offspring, hatched at Loch Garten in 2009. Her ring is white/black PJ. She migrated as a juvenile to Guinea-Bissau, and spent her formative months on the small island of Unhocomozinho, in the Bijagos Archipelago. Now a sub-adult, she has travelled north to Europe for the first time this summer and is currently in the Gironde estuary in SW France, where she also spent 6 weeks on her way south in 2009. So far, she has not returned to the UK.
Rothes' earlier travels were followed in this thread, now closed.
For the record, this is Tore's route from Holyhead to Suffolk in the GE update of Monday 22nd:
In this update, Bynack had left LG on the 21st but had only reached Ballater around midday (the exciting/scary flight to Bruges will therefore be in the next update) and Rothes was still pottering on the Gironde.
Latest update......Tore first. I feel the plotters may have mixed one of Bynack's points up with Tore's, but this does show her visit to Minsmere.
And she later travelled south west down to Sussex, ending up not so far from me........
In the last point shown for 22nd, she's flying at 833m over Stagpark Farm on the Petworth Estate, which I've often walked past, heading towards Chichester Harbour.
Tore has payed a "visit" to London, perhaps she wanted to do a greeting or protesting screech to the Royal Family ;-) But to be honest, I must force myself to refrain from comparing her route to Deshar's... or I will not find sleep tonight...
And here some reassuring data from Bynack. Three points yesterday seem to confirm a stay around a lake. I hope he catched fish there, our brave boy:
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
So enjoying these updates of migration!
Many thanks

SueC : Interesting to see where Tore is heading. Perhaps she has seen other ospreys going in that direction. This seems like more normal migrating behaviour than her cross country trip.
Bynack's route through Belgium yesterday - the lake in Alex's screenshot is the first place shown after he reached land, NNW of Bruges.
Hello there ALEX- I can't seem to find the lake you spoke of. What is the date of the point/s relevant please?
Alex : Bynack must have spent some considerable time near that lake depending on the frequency of the fixes. lets hope he managed to catch a fish as he must have been tired and hungry.
Oh, ALAN - could you help me find the lake please?
