Tore is entering her 52nd day today. Will she fledge?
Not convinced she is quite ready yet...but I have been known to be wrong :)

Yes, Lynette.
HI, Just home after going out for the day with M.I.L. You can ALL take a bow for your super in-puts to-day. My only hope of keeping up with what's happened. Pity it's still so wet at LG. It must be making a difference to their fledging time.
Tore and Bynack wing flapping probably trying to dry themselves out a bit. I think it has just stopped raining.

Hi, Pam. It looks as though they have got beyond caring about the rain! They are having a really good wingercise right now, aren't they?
The rain has brought out the lovely colours of all the nest stuff EJ has so faithfully been bringing back!
EDIT: Sorry, I don't mean that to sound as though she has been at it all day - far from it. Don't know where she is at present.

If I'm wrong I'm sure someone more knowlegeable than I will correct me but, RtheB, my understanding is they already have the ''gland'' or whatever it is and they continually use it when they preen. It's at the base of the their body under the tail which is why they are constantly ''nibbling'' at this place periodically as they preen.
Cirrus, you are right, though my book says the gland is above the tail.
Would you like me to post the whole article?
EJ back - chicks hoping for fish disappointed. As I type she flies away again.
Hi to you to Daisy. Missed all the wingercising as my Mum phoned and I have just put the phone down! Glad to hear they are still managing despite the weather. They look a right soggy pair!
EJ back with a bit of moss!
EDIT: and now off again.
