Welcome to a new week. Check back to last week's chat for news. Linda is spending weekend with Tomasz. Annette has been told to slow down . . . by Brenda who sounds just as busy! Alan has been wandering shops again.
Oh thank you Tiger for correcting my error. But not too far away though! An area which I am sure would remind me of Scotland. Certainly the weather on tonight's news item on the tour suggested that! Being a Royalist, I think the young couple are doing a super job so far.

Sheila You may be thinking that she hails from Cape Breton originally.

The Chinese are no good at technology are they?
Tiger: I've just printed out the map for tonight for the ISS. Will probably be on line after the fireworks end around 9:30 p.m. Thanks again and
TAKE CARE ALL (hope the site is better this evening!!)
Evening all. Just a quick reply to say I'm back but not caught up.
Cirrus -The thing I heard about ISS crew having to prepare to evacuate because of the asteroid was just on the radio, but if you google “ISS crew ready to evacuate” you get several sources if information. Maybe someone has done this already.
AQ, thanks for stories (up to 30th June so far) and pics.
Back tomorrow...got to see new series of New Tricks!

Hi, all.
Good to hear that Rothes is safely at the sturgeon farm. Like Alan, I'd decided that Rothes knew what she was doing, leisurely exploring and evaluating potential migration routes. She always was a bold bird, leaving so early on migration. And, like Tiger, I think she ultimately will fly to Scotland, after taking perhaps a substantial break and eating well at the sturgeon farm. She may make an equally adventuresome trip around England/Scotland. Maybe she'll run into Garten along the way. :-)
Sorry that I haven't been on this thread much. I have a lot to do and a lot on my mind. I still have the giant tree in my driveway lane!
Plus, I turn into the hostile Hag of the Forest at this time of year!!! LOL! LOL! It's miserably hot and humid, and I hate the 4th of July. People have been setting off fireworks for a bloomin' week at all hours of the day and night -- making the poor wildlife frantic and rattling my nerves. A herd of deer are huddled behind my garage right now, because it's the only place they feel safe at all (they equate fireworks with hunters' guns). The rabbits are hiding under the car. The squirrels are all under my deck. The birds can't even roost properly at night. They just get settled and some eejit sets off another string of cracks and booms and flares. We had a huge and obscenely expensive community fireworks display at the local lake that lasted until 11:30 P.M. last night, and then fireworks from the local pub on the highway, and then the neighbors' on the land next to mine. The birds were alarm calling until 1:00 A.M. this morning!!! We can't afford quality education, or healthcare, or social services for the poor here, but the politicians can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on grand fireworks displays nationwide.
I did have a nice lunch with my brother and his fiancee this week. He's given her an engagement ring, of which she is very proud. We had pizza and salad, and later went to a cafe and had huge calorie-ridden milkshakes. Mine was mocha. Yum. I wasn't hungry for two days! His fiancee is very good for him, and he seems much happier, as well as more emotionally open, fun-loving, and compassionate.
I fear there's no way that I can properly catch up everyone's posts. So just a couple of highlights:
AQ: I have found your diary of your holiday to be very interesting reading!!! Such a demanding trip, though, considering that you weren't feeling well. I hope that ultimately you'll be able to focus on the good times. Thanks so much for posting the details for us! I loved those two recent pics of the German scenery.
Margo: Thanks, also, for your diary of your LG trip. Such a gratifying experience, although demanding. I would love to volunteer at LG, although I'm afraid the trip is a bit far for me to travel. :-( Margo, I'm so very, very sorry about your sister's condition.
Lindy: The photos of Tomasz are adorable. He's such a handsome, engaged, intelligent looking lad. Glad he's going to be a birder. He seems to love the toy dog he's holding. Does he like Buzz? I'm glad you were able to spend some quality time with family. That's so important. You can send any leftover strawberries to me.
Brenda: re your keys. I'm convinced that the fairy folk come into my house and hide necessary items -- just to amuse themselves watching my confusion and panic. ;-) LOL!
Tiger: Thanks for the info about the ISS over Indianapolis!
dibnlib: I would love to ride in a helicopter!
OG: I hope your blood test went well today. I never want to give up my blood, either. I will answer your email soon. Glad you are doing better, my friend.
Annette: I hope your new BBQ works well! I'm so sorry about your daughter's friend. I won't say any more, because if I get started on the sorry state of healthcare in America, I will go on a bitter, multi-page rant. Suffice it to say that I agree with you about this country's warped funding priorities.
Everyone have a good week!

TerryM Lots of references to the story here.
Must be very quick - replies will have to wait for a wet day - forecast tomorrow!
Blood flowed at second attempt - quite slowly but she got enough for the three sets of tests. She had told me to keep my veins warm, so I wore a fleece and wilted in the waiting room!
Garden this afternoon - both busy to get various things done before change in the weather. Had garden carrots again today - mmmm! Anyone want a Cucumber? Got five lined up in the fridge, but neighbours are away on hol - might see their daughter when she comes to fed her Dad's fish - she likes my Cucumbers.
Bed!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Welcome back, Terry.
Tiger - that is just a m a z i n g !! Those photos of the bridge look surreal. Why do we not hear about these things on the TV news?
Annette: I have visions of you and Lightening, swinging around in that hammock like the cartoons of Tom & Jerry! Like Sheila, I don't understand how your Health Care bill was rejected. It was a major opportunity for your country to sort out the system.
Alan: Love the Lone Ranger joke - gives away my age, too.
Sheila: How smashing to see so many Red Kites over the Thames. The Shard sounds well, just tooo big.
dibnlib: Envy you the views of the Moray Firth on your outing.
margo - I'm off to read your LG Diary entry, didnt have time earlier today.
Diane: You sound busy, as usual. I love fireworks, but hate it when there are a lot at once, which upsets all the domestic and wildlife animals. They all seem to be finding a haven on your property. Tomasz was fascinated with Buzz, as he's not seen a dog up close before - he watched him carefully. Buzz was somewhat puzzled by the attention the baby got, but not too jealous. More interested in what there was to eat laying around, in a house somewhat full of people. It should get more interesting when the baby has a biscuit in each hand, later.
Today we went to stretch our legs, and found a lot of pretty wildflowers around - here is one pic I took :
- must get off to bed, its late for me, now. 'Bye.
ps. Glad they found your veins at last, OG!
