Goodnight CIRRUS :-* I had to have a break myself, was totally traumatised, due partly to the excitement and tension of the events. Am so relieved that Storm has perked up but do wish they'd had another fish delivered.
IMAGICAT
When humans have a traumatic experience such as surgery or dental work they are not hungry after it. I think animals/birds are probably the same. Neither was chirping for food. They are fine. There were 2 or 3 fish delivered before the ringing so it is not as if they have not eaten all day.
I think they will be fine, Scylla. I'm sure the team did as much as they could to make the whole process last as short a time as possible to lessen the stress for all the birds.
Putting it all into the big picture, migration would seem to me to be far more stressful, yet off the birds go, the youngsters not having any experience at all. Some, probably most, not even being able to catch their own fish.
The more I think about it, the more I am amazed by it all.

Yes, Barbara. When the smaller chick fell over on its side and had a terrible struggle to right itself - a very stressful thing to happen [I watched the whole thing live] - it hardly ate any of the next fish that was delivered; but recovered enough to eat the next one.
If you want to see what shock can do to a bird the you should read Mozzie The Blackbird. and the same story in this forum.
