Happy Sunday folks!

  • Safe trip Annette. Good to see you again Diane.

Isn't it thrilling to see Mallachie exploring.

What a surprise, light rain here today, that settled the dust. South Australia has had drought for 4 years. So far this winter we had reasonable rains and the reservoirs are 80% full. Still hoping for spring rain. The last two days would have dried out the crops. Not too much I hope. I feel so sorry for our backyard New Holland honeyeaters now we have water restrictions. They used to flutter through the abelia when the sprinkler was on, chattering their joy, but alas sprinklers are banned. We live close to the beach and may get sea breezes on summer evenings. Those living in the foothills get gully winds to cool things down. But if no wind, oh it can be so hot. I hope that answers the questions.

  • I've just read the messages and to all those having problems etc,  I hope you soon get sorted and to the ones with the hot weather you have my sympathy.  Anything above 20 leaves me uncomfortable and over 25 I have to hide away as much as possible.

I was away Wednesday and Thursday and now we have my brother and his family here so am on here before they all get up.  Not sure when they are going back.  I do know they have to be back by Wednesday night though.

Cirrus    Sorry if I am insulting your intelligence here but I don't know how computer literate people are in this community.     Have you cleared all your cookies etc. recently.  If not I would suggest you do that as well as there could be something in there messing your computer up a bit.

Use whatever talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sing the best.

  • Thank you, aquilareen! Nice to see you, too!

  • Thank you aquilareen, that did answer my question

You are a bit of a night owl Diane:) You avatar is perfect. I can't stay up too late, start falling asleep.

    Have a great sunday everyone

  • Earlier today I was at Barnwell Country Park for the Autumn Fayre. When we were in the hide there, we saw a kingfisher. This is the first one I have seen this year. They usually nest within sight of the hide but this year a grass snake decided to nest next to them so they decided better of it. There are 2 other kingfisher nests on the river but until now I have been unable to see any. It is great to see that flash of blue as they dive into the water and come out with a fish. I was also speaking to one of the wildlife trust people there and he was saying that there were otters in the river and they have built 2 artificial holts which have not yet been used.

I would love to see an otter but they only appear in the early morning or late in the evening as there are so many dogs around during the day.

  • Hello everyone. Can you possibly remember the name of the artist who painted the picture that was available in print form, at LG to new members. Maybe someone reading this has a signed print? I would like to look for a painting as a Christmas present for the family who suffered a bereavement recently and I made a donation to Abernethy Forest to honour the memory of their family member. If so, please put the name on my page, instead of here. thanks.

  • Gary: I have always wanted to stay up until dawn and then sleep until noon. My brother says that I'm a vampire. ;-)

  • Hello again everyone, I'm still here but crushed by PC problems. I shall  rise again !!!   Isn't it good to see Mallachie resting up a bit (and hopefully honing her fishing skills)

Hi Tersa  - I do appreciate your encouragement. I took a break over the weekend from computers cos it was all 'doing my head in'. And today I have a friend arriving from Plymouth on her way home to Derbyshire and she'll be staying overnight. Then I'll have   another go PC wise.

Re cookies. Oh, Teresa, I don't want to get rid of all my cookies cos I'll have to start again    with a million and one user names and passwords!!  Banks, BT, MSN, Skype, Virgin Trains, Visit Scotland - to name but a very few. Oh and the RSPB of course. I just can't face it. It would be like a re-install to me. (Ever done one of those? ...  shudder)

And later this week I think I'll have to grasp the nettle and go and talk to a computer shop .

  • good luck Jane:)

Diane, that is funny:) Rather you than me. Come 10pm and I think I'm late for bed LOL
