Morning all: Happy new week.

MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))

Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.

dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.

Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.

Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?

Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!

Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.

OK, off to fix dinner; back later.

Tiger , what adorable pups. For someone who is up on breeds which one is it???

They are Bernese mountain dog pups. I do not know which one of them my friend is getting but it apparently arrives in five days time.

  • Tiger - I would want the one second from left, with the little spotty nose!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Tiger and OG: I want the puppy on the far right. The white on his face looks like an hourglass or an infinity sign.   :-)))

  • Just had 2 baby pied wagtails in the garden. Here is a pic of one of them:

I think that may be one they are getting but I do not know.

  • Morning all!

Lindybird: Our patio door is where Lightning "climbs" it with dirty paws when she's eager to come in, so the bottom 3ft are always a smudgy mess and you can't just clean that bit.

TIger: Adorable pups. Like OG, I would choose the one with the spotty nose.

Heather: Thanks for Margo update. Please pass on best wishes for her and her computer and our condolences for not being able to watch EJ and the chicks! :-(

Alan: So nice for you to have the reserve all to yourself. There's a redwood grove at our Botanic Garden where the silence is palpable when nobody else is around. I bet the treasurer of the charity was really dismayed about the mistake - after 40 years of perfection, that would shake my confidence a bit!

OG: Both Diane and I were tired last night, but book club and strawberries were at my house. :-)  Hope your shot kicks in soon. I too would want the pup with the spotty nose; he/she looks mischievous.

Diane: The hour-glass pup was my second choice.

Sunny day here yesterday too; now June Gloom back. Off to blow it away! :-)  Take care ALL

  • Lynette yes Nethybridge is about 3 miles I think from LG and we're about a further 3 miles by road from the village.

Dibnlib no I'm not volunteering just holidaying but will be a frequent visitor at the centre.

    Tiger georgeous pups

Heather if you speak to Margo again please wish her well.  The computer too as I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to her tales of her week.

  • OG Glad you're feeling a bit better.  Love the oystercatcher.  One morning during the winter there was a grey heron on a neighbour's roof!  About your family history, 'Dolly' seems to have been the pet name given to a girl who had the same name as an older relative,  When I was a child we had neighbours with a large family.  Mother was Victoria, always called Vicky, and one daughter was Victoria, called Dolly in the family.  Doesn't make the ancestry research any easier!

  • BTW pups cost about £900 each!  :)

  • Tiger: 900 pounds? Do those puppies come with a solid gold collar? LOL! They sure are sweet!

OG/Lynette: My extended family has a history of using their middle names, which makes tracing genealogy difficult. I've always gone by the name "Diane," (except at university), but my name is actually "Susan Diane". Very confusing to try to follow people's official records!

By the way, several people asked about the vodka/nettles herbal extract, and I failed to answer. You drink it, not rub it into the skin. But you only drink a few drops every day, using an eye-dropper to measure the amount. You soak the nettle leaves in vodka for 6 weeks, and the leaf material softens and breaks down (this process is called maceration). The plant's chemical compounds are released and concentrated in the alcohol, making an extract. Then the leaf material is carefully strained out. (People should always check with their doctors before using herbs.) :-)
