Morning all: Happy new week.

MARGO: Welcome back!! :-))

Wendy: Thanks for keeping us up to date on Margo's Big Adventure.

dibnlib: How nice to bump into Margo et al.

Lindybird: Yes, June Gloom highly predictable; if you know of anyone planning to come to California in June, tell them not to expect beach weather, but can be pretty hot away from the coast. Re new dark countertops that don't show dirt, have been horrified to find globs of dried up sticky stuff on ours; now have to bend over and catch the light on the surface to see what needs to be scrubbed.

Diane: Only four feet from a deer? Wow. Pretty impressive, especially after looking at the pix! Maybe whistle a happy tune or put bells on your shoes next time?

Jay-Me: Vacation time sounds nice and relaxing!

Lynette: Thanks for clarifying which part of you is hurting! :-) Nice that all your furniture is finally set up; now enjoy it.

OK, off to fix dinner; back later.

  • Mary  When I hear the name Ailsa Craig I always think of the first hole at the Turnberry golf course and the final one which is Ailsa Hame. This was the scene of the incredible battle between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus in 1977 Open. I do believe that Tom Watson won with a score of 268 interestingly exactly the same that Rory McIroy scored at  Congressional last week to win the US Open. McIroy was not even born in 1977 nor would be for another 12 or so years.

  • Ailsa Craig means tomatoes and onions to me.

    --thought it sounded familiar, Chloe....

There is an example of how birds are not as stupid as some people think on here:

I can remember that Tiger, such a coincidence too that RMcI had the same score at the US Open.    I wasnt aware that the first hole was named Ailsa Craig.

  • Hi folks Ailsa Craig and the Ayrshire coast northbounds are wonderful - southbounds means the ferry home!  But the scenery is definitely pretty!

OG Hope you were at the Pipe Band Champs today - I heard about them on Radio Scotland yesterday and immediately thought of you!

Mary GK  My inlaws lived in Falkirk (when FiL retired).  We spent one Hogmanay with them, completely snowed-in - ferry company was very understanding.  know the areas in NW Sutherland that you mentioned.  We used to holiday in Scourie and the single-track road through Drumbeg to Lochinver was a great favourite (though really scary!)  We loved to reach Clashnessie and take the dogs for a run on the beach - must try to scan some pictures in 9int was way before digital days!)

Sheila FE The Falls of Kirkaig are beautiful.  OH once nearly fell in, after a dry summer when the grass was burnt up.

Didn't get to my competition today as the rash stage of my shingles is almost away but I havw severe muscle pain.  Will see the doc again next week to work out a pain relief plan.

  • PatriciaT - Have stayed at Scourie so know that area, the beach at Clashnessie is lovely too, Clachtoll is another good one.

My brother has just had Shingles several months ago and he still gets the pain, he said it was really painful.   I get bad cold sores which is the same family of virus's.   So know how you are suffering Patricia, I do hope that the Doc will sort you out with some kind of pain relief.

  • Hi can Anyone tell me what fish  this is i saw i laying on top of a garage roof opposite where i live i will post a pic of it

  • Warm + wet = humid + headache!

Mary – we have been saying we must go west again some time and look at Ballantrae.

Tiger – those were the days for golf – always liked Tom Watson – a bit more of an “Ordinary guy” than Nicklaus, who seemed a bit full of his own importance.  Never watch it these days – Internet has taken over!

Chloe – got some Ailsa Craig Tomatoes in the greenhouse!

Patricia – sorry to disappoint you but we avoid town when Pipe Band Championships are on – very crowded and no parking available for locals.  Actually, I’m a bit funny about pipes – I love hearing them, so they make me cry!  (Outdoors that is, can’t stand them indoors!)  So sorry about your pain from the shingles – sounds like you have it really badly, probably because of all the stress.  I hope the Doc will be able to help you.

Alicat – can’t ID fish, sorry.  But how did it get there (Osprey dropped it?) and how on earth did you take the photo?

Nearly next week, so must get to bed!  Good night, all.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • was having a bit of fun the other day with Bobbie i have this teddy with a jumper and skirt on,i took them off and put them on Bobbie here she is dressed in the jumper and skirt.

in this one she is giving me her paw for a treat as you can see

  • OG i took the photo from bedroom window not sure how it got there we don't get ospreys flying in our area saw one once in the next village thats as near an osprey has been to us that i have seen anyway, i thought that it might have been an heron that had droped it
