Daily Update (LG Nest) Tuesday, June 14, 2011

So a new day begins. For Star it is day 26 and for Storm it is day 20

What are the questions for today?

How many fish will Odin bring in?

Will EJ go fishing this year?

  • Mary GK    We do big asks!  :)  If you got "Life of Ospreys" and I cannot put my hand on my copy just now, there is a list up to 2007 on page 23

A very good book called "The Scottish Ospreys" is a must for all ospreys lovers. Last time I looked Abebooks had one copy selling at a ridiculously low price. Yes Abebooks have a copy at £0.63 with £3.35 postage.

I use this little tool to find used books. See bookfinder

I myself do have a spreadsheet of the data. We may even have it on HTML. Certainly the more recents stats are here.

  • Cirrus, you're not the only one having trouble with the site, honest!  That's why I had to post my 2 fish delivery pics together.

    Tiger, thanks for the link - I posted a Q on the Tech thread but hadn't had a notification of reply and couldn't find it again :-{

Here's Storm, rather pale in this shot, either trying to feak on the big branch or pretending to be strong enough to move it ;-)

A woman's work is never done *sigh*

  • Oh gosh, what a problem this morning, not only not being able to get on, but now having done so I find it so irritatingly slow.

Huge thanks to Hazel for the night vigil - sterling work!  Thanks to Annete, Barbara Jean, Joan, Cirrus et al for the super captures.  There really is a big difference in our chicks.   Each day they look more grown up.  I notice today that a lot of the 'fluffy' feathers are beginning to moult - there is probably a proper name for them, a bit like milk teeth!!

I was watching the cam at 8.30 when I couldn't get on to the forum and it was a beautiful morning.  Just before 9.00am EJ was mantling and the chicks were curious, but at 9.10am when she resumed the mantling both were playing dead.  I noted a fish delivery at 10.51.  Did anyone hear a most peculiar 'creaking' noise, as though a barn door was opening?  It was quite loud, and even EJ and the chicks looked up.  It happened a couple of times.  Not heard it since though.

EJ has just left on an exercise flight, leaving the two alone.  A seagull passed overhead calling.  She has returned with another twig, almost standing on the egg, which to my surprise still remains intact.  A bit of HW and rearranging of the furniture.  There seems to be a slight fog on parts of the lens this morning.

    9.15am

    10.50 fish

  • Cirrus - today's FISH DELIVERIES so far!

06.11 - noted by Barbara Jean

    09.32 - noted by Alan

10.48 - noted by Mary GK

I couldn't get on for most of the morning either ... the few times I did, it was by sheer chance!

Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

  • Thanks soooooooo much Tiger, you are a gem, (not like our gem's ha ha), you are a treasure for sure, the link to the more recent details is brilliant, and I will certainly try and get those books too.

  •

Aaah, Star, resting on elbows prior to a flop-on-face :)

  • Tried to add this one to the last post, but the type had turned blue and was underlined, so decided to do without it.

Now why did this one go to the left, and the previous two to centre?

I wonder what this was all about!...

  • Shelia  I love that picture of Odin looking at the chicks. You never quite know whether he is admiring them or thinking "What have I done?"

  •  Joan, bless you for such an excellent fish report

amazing ! - managed a bit of a back read.

LoL Hazel - hadn't thought of that   G.E.M.  - would never call you that   :)  Yes  I second Joan on the sterling work you did through the night.

I'm slowly getting to grips with recognising the teens profiles - course, they will change as they grow to adults but I find ''spotting the differences'' at this stage helpful for recognising the juveniles.

Welcome back RtheB wherever you've been hope it was enjoyable.

And just a huge 'hi' to all those I havn't mentioned  - Barbara, Mary, Annette, Auntie, Rachel, good input from Sue, Alan, AG , Tiger (again) and Sheila

And anyone that has appeared since I've tried to post this

    incoming fish
