Almost forgot about starting this one! Off to read last few posts of last week.
Morning all,
OG : More excellent pics.
Everyone else : Thanks for the chat and pics.
Goint out soon so no time to chat. Just had baby goldfinches on the feeder again. They are still not able to feed themselves but good to see they are still ok. Weather is partly cloudy and a bit more windy today.
Morning all. Off shortly to watch the competition Tweed should have been doing today. Another lovely morning so it will be pleasant. We had our baby goldfinches on the feeder yesterday evening, also yound bluetits. Haven't had time to look this morning. They are so cute! The goldfinches seem to have got the hang of the feeders but the blue tits wait for mum or dad to feed them.
Good Morning to you ALL. No bright sunshine as yet this morning, but still warm and quite windy.
Patricia, Congratulations to Fly and Tweed and well done to you too. Sorry about Tweed's injury.
Wendy, Your walk sounded idylic. Osprey and deer. I would prefer that anytime to working in the garden.
Terry, Thanks for your night schedule at Bassenthwaite. I really do admire your stamina and the work you are doing.
OG, More brilliant photographs.
Margo, I hope OH is feeling more refreshed this morning. He obviously enjoys his gigs, in spite of knowing he will get banged and bruised.
Annette, Hard to believe that you worry about keeping fit and watching your weight. You very rarely seem to relax.
What a discussion jsb has started about sheets. Besides the thread count, he was thinking of American sheets for a couple, who already have everything. My most expensive bedding purchase recently was to buy a genuine goose down duvet. It is so light and snuggly. OH is allergic to feathers so have never chanced buying one before, but he has not reacted to this duvet.
Thanks to you All for your posts. I love reading them.
Good morning all and it is cooler and a bit cloudy today. Very warm yesterday when OH came in from work temperature was still in the 20's. Too hot for Billy, she just slept all day in the shade indoors but came to life about 8.00 last evening and had an extended play for about 2 hours.
Lindybird well done for rescuing the baby sparrow and it is amazing how little they weigh. One flew into my kitchen window last year and I picked it up and was surprised at just how lttle they weigh. Poor little thing didn't make it though. Always upsets me so much when this happens. Just had a baby starling so far this year who did the same thing. Hope shopping mission is successful this morning.
WendyB you are right the countdown is really on now. At this time nest week will be at Southampton Airport raring to go. How lucky to see an osprey on your walk as well. It could be a very interesting chat about age gaps. Will say no more until we meet next week. I see Heather B has very kindly offered her services as well. What a truly wonderful bunch of people on this forum. Am going to PM her and see if she could get to LG so we could meet.
Heather B thanks so much for your offer of help. I am going to send a message to your page where it would be quite safe to divulge phone numbers. If you could get to LG would be lovely to meet with you.
OG g great pics again and was nice to read about the Barn Owls doing well. Think it has been a bad year the generally. Sad about the Whooper Swan though.
Lynette nice captures from Pete's Pond, early evening ones very atmospheric.
TerryM hope you have managed to catch up with some sleep after your overnight shift. Fantastic thing you are doing in helping protect ospreys.
Diane thanks for the upate on the baby wasps, must be fascinating viewing as long as stand well out of the way.
Annette you are so busy and that weather sounds very hot. Good that your daghter's journey going well so far. Hope it doesn't rain for you when the move is on. Should image with your busy schedule food is often taken on the run but I am sure you will not have done yourself too much harm.
patriciat hope you have a good day even though Tweed cannot compete.
Margobird
Good morning Brenda H OH's legs very stiff this morning after his long walk with damaged ankle. He says they feel worse than they did yesterday. Going to suggest that he has a good long soak in the bath later. Weather here like you have at the moment but we do have any wind. Believe it is going to cool down a lot over the coming days.
Lindy: I meant to say: What a remarkable experience you had with the baby sparrow!!! Congratulations on successfully rescuing the little thing and setting it free. To feel a tiny heart beating gives one such an appreciation for the miracle of life on Earth. Well done!!!
Patriciat well done on the agility. Sorry Tweed has overdone it. Hope the injuries soon settle down. I do wonder sometimes how much strain they take on their front legs doing it.
Margo sounds like you and Billie are inseparable now. I had never imagined your OH would be a head banger!! It must have taken it out of him though to fall asleep and miss his stop.
Thanks all for the fantastic pictures. As forecast it's much cooler today. It has been a bit too hot for me though. It makes my OH laugh when I say that. When I got home on Thursday afternoon I had to laugh as Mrs Blackbird landed on the grass and flopped with her wings spread trying to cool down. The bird baths have been well used.
Afternoon all ... its cold and windy here today ... 12C after 20+C for the last couple of days.
Thanks for all the pics and posts etc ... more lovely photographs ffrom OG ... and Linda saving a baby sparrow :-))
Trying to do the dreaded HW today while it is cooler, so just having a quick look in here! :-(((
Take care.

Not so bright, but still very warm – feeling a bit “knocked out” by it. Birds are making the most of it – feeders occupied continuously. A bit quieter today – Starling triplets have now learned to feed themselves – bet the parents are relieved!
Terry – I did read your note about Bassenthwaite access – thank you - I will reply very soon!
Patricia – I see you are back in winning form. I was surprised to see it was Fly with Tweed – I thought Fly had retired and Indy was in training – but maybe I’ve got them missed up again! Sorry about Tweed’s leg strain.
Read all the posts, so thanks to all.
Now going to pick some herbs for freezing, and see what else I ought to be doing.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Thanks for all your news folks, love reading them.
Baking this morning, early lunch for OH as he was off to umpire a local league game, then our lunch, shower, and then just laze watching EJ and family etc.
Warm but breezy and a little cloudy here.
Pics of Glasslyn osps and Manton Bay.notice one of the wee ones is way out to the right at MB.
