I have decided to start this thread for discussing technical issues that come up rather than messing up the other threads.
I guess the first issue seems to be pasting Word text into posting boxes.
Recently we have had three threads lockup up as a result of posts involving Word text.

The same disks that are still around today if anyone has a floppy drive.
I thought perhaps they held even less than that. I remember the floppies, I had loads of them. Thought when you said 'diskette' it was an even smaller version.

The version before that were something like 5.25 inches and were floppy. They held about 1MB at maximim.

Try CHKDSK
In other words type CHKDSK at the prompt and then press <Enter>
This seems slightly more responsive now it has had a rest.

But maybe you and as others, made no comment you would be prefer not to.
They are however completely safe and as Superantispyware can be run from a portable link, could be your first step in recovery.Download and make on another device.Then you can insert into the faulty computer to Run.
Particularly as was suggested by ,others they thought you have a virus.Just a thought before you have to pay out...
Re diskettes, I well remember Amstrad 9512 and Atari , loading the disks each day before you started was a real pain...
