I have decided to start this thread for discussing technical issues that come up rather than messing up the other threads.
I guess the first issue seems to be pasting Word text into posting boxes.
Recently we have had three threads lockup up as a result of posts involving Word text.

What a coincidence! Limpy asked me today how I did my post in red, which I had not :-? Now I pop in here and see a discussion on the topic. So...
...this is a spearmint in Thunderbird.
However, I'm slow enough as it is, without attempting multi-coloured posts ;-)

Hi all you techies - just have to say that my eyes have glazed over and my brain cell has fallen over kicking & screaming after trying to make sense of all this colour/font/size business! Just can't compute all the details - but then again it did take me forever to embed a video - just ask poor doggie!!!!!!!

Wendy, all we are doing is using another message board, email or application that is in webspace ie. that our web browsers use (that means, not something on our computer's hard drive) to type on. One we can edit and change colours etc. in.
If you are going to use email for instance, you have to open up a new page as you do when composing a new email, only you are not going to post this one, type in the text you want to use and use the email editor bar to change the font, size, colour etc. Then you highlight and copy what you have done and paste it here. Just remember that when you paste it here you have to be in rich formatting mode.
Does that make sense to you?
Thanks for the advice re colour etc. I initially tried it as the only line in a Yahoo email but it didn't work. Then I added some preceding lines before my colour text and then it worked.

That's strange isn't it birdsong? Works ok for me in BTYahoo mail without having to add any lines. Anyway, glad you got it sussed :)
