I was wondering how useful people are finding the links in my and other people signatures is proving? Anything I should add?

How many people are using the osprey data  regularly? We know people are using it as it is getting a large nunber of hits but it would be nice to know if it is from people here.

You must know already as you have sent me PMs.

They are those little messages where the notifications appear at the top of the page.

Hi Patily. Click on the persons name that you want to send a PM to, and it will go to their page. On the right hand side at the top, it says send a message. However, you can only do this if you are "friends"

If you want to send a message to someone with whom you are not "friends", just request friendship, you can incorporate your message in the friendship request :-)

Over the years I have told people zillions of times "Back up your data" Indeed back in 2003 I almost got banned from a forum for telling someone who had just lost important data to "back up their data". Strange logic I know but there you are.

Anyway just before 11.30 pm when I was in the process of backing up data I somehow accidently deleted all my data for 2012.

Now I can assure you the feeling of fear that descends when one does something like that is very great.

Now I immediately raced to my backup store but was surprised to find that it was only backed up until Monday night. Still a lot better than no back up.

Then I realised that I had also a copy of a backup to late Tuesday night.

So only one updated file from Wednesday lost.

You can never back up your data too often.

With all the backup devices available now there is no excuse.

So the event of 16th May 2012 will be the "big data scare".

Tiger I have an exact copy of my Computer on a Portable Hard drive, I usually always remember to back up things like photographs but its the odd little things that I do that are easy to forget, I guess best way is to have the portable drive attached ALL the time and back up each and every thing as you go along.

By the way you are the person to ask!  Is there anyway that you can go into a thread and ask to go to a certain Page?   Not sure if this has been discussed before or not, but if there is a lesson on it then I would certainly like to learn from it.     Off to bed for tonight, but will check back tomorrow to see if it is at all possible to do this.
