I have decided to start this thread for discussing technical issues that come up rather than messing up the other threads.
I guess the first issue seems to be pasting Word text into posting boxes.
Recently we have had three threads lockup up as a result of posts involving Word text.

Thanks for this post jsb. It's made me check my add-ons/plugins sooner than later. Sorry I can't help with the 64/32 bit problem.
Re the update/add on checker..........just now I had an automatic update from Java, which installed OK. Now running the checker again, I only have Adobe Reader which is out of date, but Windows 7 is blocking the Adobe update by refusing to allow me to open the install set up file.

Just for the records (Cirrus's and mine) I cannot reply to a message from Cirrus, the Reply button is dead as a dodo :-( So I tried creating a new message, but when I hit Submit the little circle goes round and round for ever :'(
I will keep trying, CIRRUS.

Got your message SCYLLA - out now :) g night all
Very distressed because I can't even send messages thru Opera now :'( I've just downgraded from Firefox 7 to 3.6.23, but it hasn't made any difference to another problem I've had, so will now test the message system and the rich formatting here, neither of which were working for me.
Got trapped in the editing box, this is what I said:
Nope! When I click the Edit pencil the box contains html code in the existing message, eg, and apostrophe is something like I' and the post in enclosed in < p > ...
I seem to be in real trouble.
Thank you for your concern, Doggie :-) I've just sent a message in Opera with no problem whatsoever :-/ I think it's Firefox that's the real problem, am seeing garbled posts on forums, eg:
The above makes perfect sense to anyone else but me :o The first I knew about any problems was after I installed FF7, I couldn't upload pics here via attachment from hard drive, that was a week or two ago. Am using Opera now, it's not good for everyday/everywhere use because it doesn't cope with some websites very well, but at least it's working here - I can even do the bold and italics without the bookmarks panel opening ;-)
I dread the palaver of tracking down what's wrong. Someone said "memory leak", which freaks me out!
This is a test - uploaded from I.E. (Greenshot pic)
Drat you Firefox
My thoughts precisely CIRRUS!! I have to remember to open Google Chrome, which I don't like using, for posh links and photos

That is brilliant news doggie. I have lost the link to the Firefox Thread, so thanks for the info!!
