I have decided to start this thread for discussing technical issues that come up rather than messing up the other threads.
I guess the first issue seems to be pasting Word text into posting boxes.
Recently we have had three threads lockup up as a result of posts involving Word text.

Thank you Cirrus for your reply and as Sunshine said now the same has happened to him.
As I said there is nothing next to their names saying they are following. I also find it strange that my profile settings do not allow message alerts.

YES it IS quite normal to have one's friends ''follow you''. There is nothing sinister in this - it's just an expression. Nothing to be concerned about. (a bit meaningless really :) ).
If you have any friends from the RSPB Community (and I have quite a number :) they ALL follow you. Goodness knows where to - they never seem to overtake one either - if you sneak a look over your shoulder they are very adept at diving into bushes or fish farm pool prentending to be Ospreys !!

Well, I certainly see what you mean. Since this new layout of the RSPB site I find I cannot find out how to access message alerts either. We'll have ask someone else.If you have a PM you will automatically get an email - maybe that's it. We don't need to set ''settings'' to receive alerts because PM's are automatically emailed to the '' friend''. And actually this is good because otherwise it would be like Facebook - a million emails to say someone has replied to your post when you haven't posted.
CIRRUS . i liked yor answer at 11-17, brill. i used to be on facebook but being computer illiterate i did not make it is it !!private!! . and all i got was eastern european young ladies wanting to be friends ,. honest .. if only they knew how old i am
Oh, ha ha ha ha ha SUNSHINE - you did make me smile (thank you). At the moment I am unable to access my FB settings which is making me hopping mad. I just want to check I've done all the sensible things about privacy and so hope it's only a temporary glitch and not an insidious plot by FB
Cirrus. If you look right at the top of the page there is a black rectangular box. When you have a PM a 1 appears above <messages> button. That is how I am alerted to PMs.
Cirrus and Sunshine, I have just logged onto FB and have not done for a while, it seems they have changed their privacy setting and I have got hundreds of people to add which I never had before.
Wonder if need to re-set settings. Oh I do not like Facebook, bit of a dinosaur me.
Oh, yes, of oourse TIGER. That's so . But the RSPB do also send an auto email (eventually) to one's email address.
B&B , if you manage to access your privacy settings on your FB account, I'd be pleased to know. I am still unable to do so

I did get a message saying they had changed their privacy settings and honestly think I will delete my account. Before I could log on and just see two friends comments but now 100s of people to add and my privacy settings extreme to say the least.
Anyway maybe the wrong place but something is not right.
Very top of screen in BLUE next to HOME is a small white down arrow B&B - click on that and choose between
Account settings
Privacy settings
Log out (I never do)
