Hi, all. Welcome to a new week!

  • hi all just to let you know that all is ok haven't been on for a few days due to internet connect been down at home not sure when it will be back on a-out at mcdonalds have logged on using the wifi looks like things are ok at lg still two egggs i see and how chick one has grown

  • dibnlib...Sorry for the late reply...I actually do believe some would stoop to that level! We have had a run of swans being killed for food...My OH works for the EA on the rivers and it really is shocking to what lengths folk go to! plus fishing with a line with up to 10 hooks..I would be more than happy to give food donations for those in need.

Not food related....We had a M & S table and 6 chairs that initially we were going to sell and then decided we would be happy to give to a local charity...We were informed they were only looking for televisions at this time! In the end it went to a local auction. What made me laugh though, we had an old style Sony tv, when mentioned, we were told folk these days were looking for flatscreens only! Well! Can folk really be so choosy with a freebie if they are that in need.

  • Cirrus - QW's news report is definitely a Bald Eagle - just look at that head!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Went to museum as planned.  Local artists’ exhibition was excellent – plenty I would have bought, but nowhere to put them!  Also went into the permanent exhibition as hadn’t seen it since recent upgrade – excellent.  Called at Coffee Lounge for decaff latte and carrot cake – first visit for about a month!  No room for dinner, so will have it later!

These two followed us for some of the time we were at Glenwhan:

    I totally agree.

  • Lindy - thanks for the link to the dog story.  What a brave little chap.

  • Another pic of the charismatic tufted duck at Conwy rspb:

  • Morning all:

Alicat: Good to see you; hope your internet connection is more stable. How's Ms Bobbie?

Tiger: Those are really wonderful shots from the PaleMale nest. Brilliant. Marvellous closeups of the parents; I bet Lincoln must be beside himself with the new photo opps! Loved the other photos too. My sister was telling me this morning that pheasants are awful mothers; apparently she and her OH came home yesterday to find a baby pheasant on their patio; they managed to persuade it to head for the protection of some bushes, but when they were working in the garden later, it came and and sat beside them. Sister put out some water and some ground up birdfood, but when she went to put it beside the chick, it suddenly hopped right into her hand! They brought it in the house and it snuggled under her sweater for the evening and went to sleep. When they went to bed, they put it in a box all toasty, but it died later the next day.

Lindybird: Oh what a lovely story about the dog! Had to laugh about Alan reading it to Hamish.  :-))   Re grumpy quotient, I think age helps with the "...and the wisdom to know the difference" part!  Gall bladder problems can be really painful. Your friend must be sick of hospitals and docs, poor thing.

Alan: The MU/Barcelona match is being broadcast here - if only I could find which channel. Those are some tail feathers on that swallow. Wonder what difference they make in flight....

Bettyboo: Had to shake my head in amazement at 'flat-screens only please' requests!  As my mother used to say "beggars can't be choosers" (although I'm sure beggars is probably very politically incorrect these days).

    OG: More marvellous shots!

Oh my, almost 10:30 and I'm still in my nightie. Better get moving!  Thanks ALL for posts and pix; have a lovely evening.

  • TRISH  hope you both have a wonderful day tomorrow.

OG wonderful pics and descriptions, thank you.

LINDY My washing machine gives a high pitched beep when finished, funnily enough I often do not hear it but OH does, how handy is that. He is watching the footie at the mo and so not hovering waiting to get on the laptop.

  • Just found the Barcelona/MU game LIVE on local Fox station - but have to go get haircut!!  :-(
