ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
Starting last Tuesday’s three gardens, all on the Rhins of Galloway, south of Portpatrick, towards the Mull of Galloway. First was Ardwell House, on Luce Bay. Not a huge estate and not a very large house compared with some (in fact a previous extension was later demolished!). There is a small decorative garden near the house, and a walk though woodland to the typical walled garden on a south-facing slope. The latter was disappointing as most of the cultivated space is used to raise plants for sale (resisted!) but there were a few things to photograph.
Walled garden bed:
A Poppy for Lindy:
Eucalyptus in walled garden (I liked the markings on the trunk and branches):
Remainder of garden in next post.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
More from Ardwell House Gardens.
Edge of front lawn adjoining woodland walk:
Garden to west of house:
Bluebells (Wild Hyacinth) in the wood:
A colourful group of Azaleas on walk back to house and car park:
Just looked back at posts I've missed.
All this techno thing, I'm hopeless, what does IE mean.
OG - what super pics of the gardens you visited and love the markings on the eucalytus tree.
Just watched an interview with Prince Philip to mark his 90th next month. Quite interesting.

Lynette IE stands for Internet Explorer - which is the Microsoft Browser that many of us use to display websites such as this.
The current versions of IE are IE 8 for those with Windows XP but IE 9 for those with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Sorry Lynette, we shouldn't abbreviate. I am sure you know what we mean now that Eagle-eye has explained.
Lovely pics as ever OG. Sorry I don't always say.
Wendy – that sounds a lovely walk – pleased you weren’t wearing shorts and your legs are intact! I hope your weather warms up before you use up next winter’s 12 tons of logs!!
Lindy – evening here turned out pleasant with a lovely sunset – but we were indoors at Friends of Museum AGM and talk on archives – quite good. Pleased the shopping trip and lunch at John Lewis turned out well.
Hi, Annette. Being where you are doesn’t sound very pleasant right now, with dust and noise next door – I hope it won’t take all summer. Must be particularly bad being near bedroom and waking you in the mornings. Cuddly Toy alluded to a news item about major disruption at a golf course when a white tiger was reported in the woods – police helicopters, nearest zoo etc turned out – it was a life-size toy Tiger! Gary’s UK trip is early August – well, that’s when we’ll see him at the LG meet. I think he has MiL visiting right now. I don’t know how that one paragraph came out big – it just happened! If we knew, we could all do it all the time!
Patricia – so pleased you weren’t out walking the dogs on Monday – especially reading about the tree. I hope today has been better for you.
Alan – liked the Ospreys capture from Milford CT – is that one of the places where they breed in colonies? I know that’s somewhere on the US east coast.
Trish – to read larger font, you can resize your page 125%, 150% etc up to 400%, by clicking RH box on task bar – 150% is probably largest practical, otherwise you have to keep scrolling right and left.
Good evening Lynette – as usual we meet here just before my bedtime! I see my OH has answered your question re IE!
That time I got larger typeface by increasing the size in Word - obviously I missed that last paragragh when highlighting! Must play with fonts and sizes on Tiger's test thread some time!
I have to read back on what I've missed being out all evening, but just to say here that, on the main Blog Jilllian coined a couple of great names for the chicks (in my opinion) - Star, for first hatched ( A Star is Born ) - and Storm (for obvious reasons) What do you think?
