Weekly Chat, Sunday 22 May 2011

Hi, all. Welcome to a new week!

  • Have never been a huge fan of Bob Dylan, but absolutely loved that Christmas song he came out with last Christmas, & bought it online.

  • Morning all: Good grief; yet more pages to read! Woke to the arrival of a giant concrete mixer that is now parked outside bedroom windows and has started churning noisily away; not sure if I prefer that to the incessant beep-beep-beep of the previous heavy piece of machinery. I see the entire summer will be spent listening to our new neighbor's house being built. :-(

Lorna: Glad you made it through and Tiger, thanks - I finally saw patriciat's post - eyes were spinning by the time I'd finished reading!

patriciat: Hope your OH stays vertical; I still feel bad that you didn't get away.....

Tiger: Have no idea what any of them are talking about - are you a cuddly toy? :-))   Bob Dylan lives about 80 miles down the road in Malibu; his neighbors were complaning about his compost heap or trash smelling a year or two ago...can't remember the details. Can't say I was a big fan; but Joan Baez, yes. (I always wonder what she saw in him - apart from his songwriting talent).

George: Good to see you; don't let Diesel get blown away.

Wattle: Nice to see you too!

Lindybird: Enjoy friend and hope Washing Machine Man (perchance a relative of Bicycle Repair Man from Monty Python?) can get it up and running again. especially since it's so young! We're still awaiting delivery of our new Panasonic TV to replace naughty nine-month-old one.

Cirrus: Hope your computer problem gets sorted - I type things on my Sticky Notes beside a reduced LG chat window and then copy/paste (have Windows 7). Do like the stickies option.  I've noticed that the option to select pages that typically shows up at the bottom of each page has been missing on occasion and assume that's what Tiger has been talking about when "freeing" a thread. I noticed that Gary posted last week; he's probably busy with Facebook or TT (isn't he due over there for a holiday?)

Lynette: Couldn't possibly remember who said what if I didn't have LG page and Sticky side-by-side, though OG remembers things for weeks and weeks! :-)

Margobird: Maybe we could all stand up and blow hard to make the ash go in the other direction (sorry, attack of the sillies).

Diane/Chloe/Lynette: I've never tried Bailey's or anything boozy in my coffee, just half-and-half (cream and milk blend).

OG: Not sure when calves will be ready for breeding (how did you get that typeface so big)?

Wendy: Have a lovely LG visit with SheilaFE.

Off to start the day. Take care all.

  • There should be a little square next to the tab you have open Cirrus, otherwise CTRL+T is a shortcut.

If you want to open a link in a new tab then hold down the CTRL key and click on the link.

  • Oh you all know so much more about techie things than I do! (Wouldn't be difficult).  Dare I ask "What are tabs?"  I must check which version of IE I have, also Windows.  I need work done on desktop PC so may get laptop upgraded too.

Dogs didn't get a walk yesterday as I thought it would be too dangerous.  Discovered today that a huge section of a tree, just at the start of our short walk route, has come down.  The main body of the tree is still standing but the fallen section covers quite a large area - the main branch has a diameter of at least a foot (don't do cms.)  I wouldn't want to be around when that fell!

George Glad you and Diesel survived your walk.  My lot didn't seem to mind the wind, though fireworks can cause them great distress.

Off to agility training now.  Will look in later hoping for another view of the 2 humbugs.

patriciat, you know those little label tabs you have on suspension files or index files? Well these browser tabs are similar to that. We can have several browser windows open at the same time but filed away neatly on the toolbar until we need them. Just click on the tab you want and the page opens. Will be interested to know which version you are running when you have checked.

  • Just been watching the male feeding the female at Milford CT:

  • Lovely to see isn't it Alan? Nice capture. Always been a feature with these two birds :)

  • Hello all - a bit quieter day today with the wind.  Wonderful news that there's been a 2nd hatching whether it is #2 or#3.  Interesting to read what Richard said about waves blowing over the road at LG.

Just had quite a longish walk with Mia, about 5 miles to meet OH from work then come home in the car.  Called at the vet's on the way to collect a worming tablet - what a treat for her.   Although they are nice tasty ones now that she will just eat thinking it's a treat.......and collies are supposed to be intelligent!!!!

Patricia how did the agility training go?  I hardly dare ask but did you manage to sort anything re the respite care?  I really do hope you did.

Margo you missed a few days at the start of this new style blog.  Hope you're settling in to it.  Wish I could work out how to make the font larger.  Has Billie forgiven you for having a few days away?

Wendy I hope things are calmer with you now.

Hello to all not mentioned by name.
