Hi, all. Welcome to a new week!

OG You could have waved across at me from Portpatrick - I can often see it with the naked eye when walking my dogs at Scrabo Country Park!

It was often a bit misty/drizzly, but I did wave!  Actually I thought I was a bit silly because you are near Strangford Lough which I thought was a bit round the corner!  Will have to brush up on my Irish Geography!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Tiger saw the last total eclipse can't remember the year from a light house on Lundy. Clouds got blown away and the sheep went home to bed.

  • Hi all: Really busy catching up (entire house is being scrubbed down - didn't intend to do it today but OH started the ball rolling by "dusting" as he calls it - a slippery slope). Am reading but no time to answer right now.  Take care all!  :-)

  • I have great memories of wonderful night skies when I was a child on camping holidays in Cornwall or Scotland. Dad used to point out the constellations and I was fascinated.

  • Evening all, I'm back! Fantastic time on Uists, Harris and Lewis despite wind, will tell later. Called in at LG on Saturday morning and saw the chick being fed (we were there when that little stick blew in from the right and just stopped in front of him).  Sad to read the news from Rutland Water. Saw the other male osprey at the site nearby that I got "bleeped" for mentioning last year.

Will be busy at work this week so may not have time to write more this week, will try to keep up.

  • Sudden bright and calm weather after dinner, so had two hours in garden!

Lynette – thanks for photos of the Morris Dancers – memories!

Cirrus – a passionate account of a holiday which obviously meant a lot to you.  Your description of Dartmoor took me back there where we have had several very happy visits - latest was a stay near Chagford but that must be at least ten years ago now!  I hope you will feel like unpacking your telescope soon – maybe you will want to come up for the real dark sky experience in the Galloway forest!  Just found the Ponies Photo – love them.  Your photo of the Gulls is actually very well defined!  Did you share your chish and fips with them?  Here is a cropped version of the photo, losing the vehicles etc in the background – but it has lost some quality in being moved out and in again - I hope you won’t mind me playing with it!

Annette – there you go again – rushing and dashing around before your feet have hardly touched the ground – do take care – and please can we see more of Delightful Delilah – she is a little beauty!

Hey, Terry!  So you’re back too – and found your way here!  So pleased you could call at LG and catch the feeding!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi OG, I found you because I knew I would come to the right place if I looked at your recent activity, so that plan worked then!

  • Up here in the Highlands we have no artificial lighting so some amazing skies...but my best memories are from Lundy soso clear.

LG on Wednesday for a meet...weather not looking good.

    That was 11th August 1999.

I was in Redruth but all I saw was clouds. The bird did panic a bit though.

  • Annette forgot to mention what a gorgeous cutie your grand-daughter is.

BTW if you have Microsoft Office Picture Manager, go to that, resize photos to "web small" it works for me with the pics I upload off my cam.

One of the most beautiful sunsets I have witnessed was in Mauritus in 2008.  Hotel right by the beach and from the lounge bar (outside) you watched the sunsets every night.

Cirrus, so pleased your trip to Dartmoor went well. Happy memories of holidays down there and in Cornwall, on occasions.
