Weekly Chat, Sunday 22 May 2011

Hi, all. Welcome to a new week!

  • Heavy rain overnight and very windy now with showers.  Just about to go for a walk round a reservoir not too far from here with OH and Mia.  Should blow the cobwebs away!

  • Morning all,

We had a slight rainfall overnight but nothing much. We are in need of lots of rain for the garden.

Thanks for the earlier chat and pics . Still trying to catch up.

We had good reception on Radio chaffinch in Wales. Here is a little chap at the cottage

  • For those of you who believe in miracles the look here.

  • Yes, just the confirmation needed Tiger :)

We stayed hopeful for so long then reached the conclusion it was never going to happen again. Then out of the blue this. Fantastically, brilliantly, wonderful stuff. Excuse my superlatives but this is such exciting news isn't it? :))

Great footage of Faith too. She looks a strong, healthy little cub.

Auntie, hope you have a great time at Pohtiolampi and see lots of ospreys :)

Have a good Sunday everyone! :)

  • Interesting forum map here.

    Very useful.

  • Thanks, Tiger!     definitely useful.

  • After watching various chick-feedings, territorial spats (Blackbirds – who else?) and poor landings & take-offs in blustery wind here in the garden, I have just done a round of various cams.  So now to return to chat!

Lynette – I enjoyed your photos last night.  Misty looks more aloof than Pebbles – but both lovely cats.  You are lucky having a Robin around in summer – only seen one here once in the last three months, but Blue Tit and Coal Tit have become regular again – must be feeding young, but they haven’t brought them to see us.

Diane – thanks for starting the new week.

Annette – didn’t realise you were going to drive all the way back in one day – l o n g  journey for you.  Your GGDaughter is beautiful – and looks so happy.  Are her allergies sorted now?

Auntie – I hope your fine weather continues – and that you are enjoying the bird life at Pohtiolampi on your day off.

Kate – thank you for the link to the heart-warming tortoise friendship video.

Lindy – enjoy your afternoon visit with Auntie – and Buzz!

Trish – enjoy your walk, too.

Alan – I keep trying to send you some rain – we are definitely “enjoying” our March winds and April showers in May this year, after those two calm and dry months!  A lovely plump Chaffinch from Wales!

Tiger – It is such wonderful news.  Do we know how many chicks Pale Male has in the nest?  How many do they typically have?  I’m sure that Forum Map will come in useful next time I get lost!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Annette   Lovely picture of Delilah.

auntie    You read links so well.  Just as well that pic link was broken otherwise....... :)

Kate2   That is a fabulous video It so reminds me of the dog in the Japanese tsunami that insisted its friend be rescued.

Diane  Glad you liked the bear video.

OG   I think that red tailed hawks normally have three chicks. We will have to wait a week or so to find out. Now people will be wondering what was going on for seven years. I am sure that even Lincoln had given up hope.  I have started a new Pale Male thread here.

  • Wonderful news about Pale Male.

Thanks to Lynette for the pics of Misty on the previous thread, only just found them.  Hope all goes well with your bedroom furniture - you are wise to have someone else do the flat pack building - it can be a pain sorting out what goes where!

Like OG,  I think I still prefer the old format of the Site - hate to be a Luddite, but it seems harder to get around.  Also the whole page seems less intimate and friendly, somehow.  Wish they had just speeded things up a little as that was a pain sometimes when posting, especially pictures. Like the fact that it seems to be private when sending someone a personal message on their Page.

Have been drinking a hot chocolate & observing the birdlife in our garden this morning - there are a whole lot of baby Sparrows this year, and we also have a junior Blackbird being fed by Mum, even though he is the same size as her.  We have a pair of Bluetits wearing themselves out to feed their babes in a birdhouse which we have had for years, and never had a nest in before, so pleased about that.  Also have some wild Bees nesting in a birdbox on our Eucalyptus tree.
