Weekly Chat, Sunday 15 May 2011

Greetings all. Sunday, almost 9.45 am here. Gorgeous pics of flowers & cats & dog on previous thread.
Back later.

  • SHEILA   please, please keep those pics coming after our enforced break. I can't get enough of them.  Soil in garden is rubbish as it is reclaimed forest land. The soil was bought in from Nairn when our rockery was built.

  • OH home from work anytime so no doubt we'll be off for coffee. Must give Mum a quick ring before that. Hope to see you later, if not, will it be Thursday (I,ve got my hanky out already)

SHEILA  See you mentioned Spean Bridge so you will have seen the statue of The Commandos. This is for LIZLFW too. One of the Commandos has the same surname as we do. Can you guess which?  Sorry no prizes.

I really have no idea, but I did find this link:  Commandos

  • I seem to have taken over today!  I said it was addictive.  Just come across this good news of nesting osprey at Loch Fleet, near Golspie

  • Dibnlib very sensible choice of colour for the new car.  Silver never seems to show the dirt / salt etc.  Mine's black........ need I say more!

We had a fairly long walk with Mia this morning.  We need to up our miles abit to get ready for the holiday.  Quite a chilly day today though.  Both our faces wind burnt.

In case I don't get on again later I hope to 'see ' you all again in a few days.

  • Sheila   We have a member over at "Ospreys" who goes to Loch Fleet every year.

  • Afternoon all - cold and windy here, with drizzle every now and then ... most unpleasant!

dibnlib - lovely photo of your rockery ... and the new car!

Sheila - love the pics of the ducks ... another of my favourite birds :-)

margobird - glad Billie is defending her territory (and her food) so well!

Lorna - welcome from me too ... look forward to hearing more from you after the 'big change'!

Diane - how lovely to see the Amish wagon and the horses. We used to have brewery wagons pulled by shire horses in Newcastle and Sunderland, but I think they stopped, except for special Shows. Thanks for the info about the Space Shuttle and the eclipses.

If I don't get back on here again today ... see you all after the 'Big Change'!

  • Hi everyone.

Thanks for starting the thread AQ, and many thanks to everyone for all the posts and wonderful pics.  Looks like we're only a few hours away from the point when the withdrawls kick in for three days, and we meet up in the revamped forum.

The weather's been okay in this part of the world, with the sun making a good effort to break through the clouds.  Just noticed a few minutes ago that the bird feeders are all needing filled, so I'll have to nip out for a few minutes.

    Happy sunday everyone.

    Paul.

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • Just popping in - golly, you are all so busy!   We went to visit OH's sister this morning, and she had been babysitting two of her adorable granddaughters over the weekend, so I had a drawing lesson with the eldest (age 6) - I taught her how to draw a rabbit and she taught me to draw a bicycle!!   Lots of family chat and discussion, over a cuppa, then we had a visit to a local Farm Shop where I bought the most delicious strawberries, (nearly as good as our own!).  OH also bought some more baby cabbage plants to put in, in the allotment, and of course lots of restocking of the Bird Feed cupboard.

Now trying to catch up on sadly neglected emails with friends, and cooking Lamb for dinner.  Sorry, not time to reply individually to posts, but have so enjoyed reading them all!!

Shall miss you all very much over the next few days - as someone said (was it Sheila?) - we shall just have to all hold hands, shut our eyes, and jump!      -- At least, we shall still be able to see EJ tending her eggs, and have the excitement of looking forward to the hatching soon.  Take Care All.

  • What a lot of posts today....so Happy Birthday Dillon and why can't you sing the HB song to him. Daisy Mays birtday is in my diary and she gets a card. She really does like her noisey toys...maybe it is because she is still quite young...2 in June.

Weather not good today too wet to garden and decorating is planned for next bank holiday so went with OH to Aberlour to get Sunday paper. He drove home and I walked...11 miles in 3 hours. Needed to get out as OH is developing a web based spread sheet thingy and it is not going too well. He keeps swearing ( I know he shouldn't) at the screen so absented myself. Not much progress when I got back also made the error of saying " a computer is as good as the person using it"...I think he took it in the spirit it was intended.

Quite a lot of people walking my part of the Speyside way, cuckoos could be heard at various points, 3 hares who couldn't decide to play in the woods one side of the path or in the field the other and all ended up running down the path in front of me. Kept turning round looking startled...rabbit and headlights came to mind. Wildflowers now in bloom and ours are so much later up here as our violets are still looking good and the hawthorne flowers are only just out.

Probably my last post so look forward to seeing everyone again on the other side of the black hole which is technology!!
