Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.
Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.
Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.
Alan -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.
Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!
Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.
These goings on with youngsters looking for a nest is going to happen more and more. The returnees need to find a spot for the year they come back and need to breed. Roy Dennis's Rothiemurcus is a point in question. The first tagged newby ( how exciting) coming back later than the oldies looking for a spot for next year. We protect them so there are more of them so they will all be ducking and diving for a spot to stay.
Tiger Lily had her tuna whilst we had dinner...she finished first and is now out on a hunt...why????
Alan: Good news about Hamish in the main - just hope that the swelling goes down whilst you are away and you can relax on your holiday.
Annette: Hope the day got better, after that bad start! Sometimes I want to go straight back to bed when that happens, before I've even got myself 'hosed down'.
Hope the new car keeps that lovely 'new' smell for a while yet, dibnlib! (We've had a few Volvos - old ones- and they are very reliable.)
OG: Good that your son is coping with the job - but financial worries are perhaps the worst kind. Sure you can advise him and be there to help.
Sheila: Agreed with your 'growing old' list - I have all the symptoms & perhaps a few more - although my hair colour is a secret even from my OH! Thanks for the link to 'Deshar's Lament' , which was great.
Joan: Enjoyed the Woodpecker article - we have a local one, in a nearby wood, and my OH hears him desperately hammering away when he is out with the dog.
Alicat: Sad story about your encounter with the other dogs - what a worry it is, when others don't keep theirs under control. Glad you and Bobbie were not hurt.
AQ: I have that AAAAADDDD Thingy........ it sounded like a Day in My Life..... Ha Ha
We enjoyed the last of the Chris Packham films last night, about the creatures of UK around the coasts. Great film of seals in the water, and dolphins. OH & I have also been catching up on the series about the 'Wonders of the Universe', which was just mind boggling. I shall never look up at the stars in the same way again.
Hope all of those of you off on your hols this weekend have a great time, and good weather.
OG Sorry to hear about sons and therefor your worries. Enjoy your time away worrieless I hope

TRISH Hope Mia is ok after that nasty incident. We are so lucky in the woods here. There are loads of dog walkers and I have heard of hardly any problems. Both Fingal and Dillon would rather lie down and submit than start a fight.
OH took this pic earlier of our 5 year old Azaelea looking just magnificent. Hope you like it
Just caught up again with everyones news.
Sheila - was interesting yesterday at LG, could have been when the intruder was about.; must read what Tiger has written sounds interesting.
EJ is still calling on and off, night cam will probably come on soon.
A robin that visits the garden and Mr Blackbird both taken late this afternoon.

dibnlib....I really enjoyed Leuchars, I was then married to someone in the RAF, we were there from 96.
I've enjoyed everyones posts today, my phone was continually beeping with emails coming through, I lost count how many... I just wish I had more time to involve myself, although I'm still struggling to get on the site in the evenings...I have just checked in on EJ and other webcams, plus had a shock when I saw how huge the Decorah Eagle chicks are now! Blimey...
dibnlib...Just stunning Azaelea
That was a very interesting evening! Very competent valuer talked off the cuff for an hour on various small “treasures” members had taken along. She somehow integrated it into a coherent presentation, but without publicly giving values. Very nice canapés too!
Trish – pleased no damage done to you or Mia during the incident on your walk. I always used to carry a stick to beat off other dogs – used to hate them coming for my dog. Pleased you both enjoyed the class tonight.
Alicat – that’s a very good start with Bobbie’s training, because she is still very young – well done!
Wendy – I suppose Tiger Lily went out on a postprandial hunt because her habit was to hunt in the evening! I am sure she wasn’t saying the tuna wasn’t good enough - she obviously knows the right time to come for that every evening!
Dibnlib – seems to be a good year for Azaleas and Rhododendrons – all profusely covered with blooms.
Lynette – good to see your Robin – ours only appears very rarely at this time of year, but just often enough to know he hasn’t gone AWOL.
Put money in Son’s bank account, so he should be okay until the next payday – and that should be adequate with continuing full-time and sick pay agreed for last week. Difficult going onto monthly paid after fortnightly Job Seekers Allowance.
Watered a few things tonight – will have to do a more comprehensive run around tomorrow – not asking neighbour to do watering since we’ll only be away a short while. Ironing completed, so everything ready to pack.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Dibnlib - interesting your comments about Dores Inn - think it is now part of the Storehouse at Foulis - which is a great place to eat. My GR used to love getting into the car as she knew she was going walkies!!!!!!!!!!!
Alan - glad to hear Hamish has been given the all clear from the biopsy - paws are notoriously difficult to heal from cuts of any sort (accidental or operative) Enjoy your Hols and the Osprey.
Was at LG y'day - showing it off to a couple of visiting friends from Swanage - they live in hope of seeing Ospreys at Arne some day. We were later in the day than referred to in the blog and missed all the excitement. Saw the resident vole around the bird feeders - apparently the vole population has increased quite significantly this year, which is due to the all the snow we had, which allowed the voles to move about under it and not be seen by predators! So the snow had a silver lining after all!!
