Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. I hope you all have a great day.
Do check back to last week's chat for OG's gorgeous wildflower garden pics And Lynette's pics of Dunedin & Hampton eaglets.
Linda - I love your pics of Tatton Park, especially autumn.
Alan -24 handbags!!!! Must be related to our Dau#2 who collects shoes & handbags. Me, I have one all-purpose go-everywhere shoulder bag. Plus the gold one OH gave me decades ago and saw the light of day at the weddings.
Brenda, Linda, Lynette, Joan, OG - On my first trip o/s I had a list of what to take. It helps remind me not to forget vital things like eye drops, film (nowadays it is memory cards & battery charger!). When I returned I noted what I didn’t use and now I check the amended list, pruning every trip. Why drag excess around? Invariably my room in B&Bs was on 2nd or3 rd floor. Besides I may buy things, such as jumpers - that’s my weakness. Stupid really because I knit them and the wardrobe is bursting. So, OG, I shall choose one of them. And camera almost lives in said all-purpose bag!
Joan - I heard a story of a local teacher who had 7 children in her class named "Amy" but all spelled differently.
More rain – good of it to come last week, but it should know when to leave!! I have made it known that, if it’s as heavy as forecast when it’s time to set out to church, I shan’t go!
AQ – thanks for starting our new week. And for that wonderful message to the Kids!!
Annette – what a busy social life you have – I hope you enjoyed the concert. Mole and Gopher? That sounds serious – drastic action needed there!
Tiger – at first I got quite annoyed at 532 people possibly reading about our lives – then I felt sorry for them, if they have no lives of their own – then finally I felt glad that we may be introducing 532 to the life of Ospreys!
Brenda – enjoy the 75th anniversary celebrations with your church – are the Battle congregation coming to help you celebrate?
Lynette – enjoy your quiet day, despite ironing!
Trish – welcome back! Sorry you have been “off colour”, and sorry about BiL’s old dog too. Pleased Mia is well, apart from the “doggy problem” on Tuesday. I hope your working and gardening life levels out now the bank holidays are out the way – just one at the end of May, I believe.
Lindy – old lunch boxes – yukk! After Dau#1 was married, she had a work appointment near us, so came for a night. Three weeks later, my nose tracked down a green orange in her left-behind lunchbox!
I think OH expects me to get scrubbed up for church right now!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi OG - I've just been back to the last weekly thread and found your lovely Wildflower Garden pics - did so enjoy them! We had the same thundery weather here last night - my head went all 'wonky' with the air pressure change. I realised a long time ago that a lot of folks might be looking in on our lives, as this is not a closed shop for anyone out there reading. So be careful what you say, folks! On the other hand - Hello You!! Have a Good Day!
ps. forgot to say, as OG rightly said, that hope Annette enjoyed her last minute Concert last night.
forgot to say 7 weeks on Saturday until our holiday in Nethybridge with regular visits to LG :-))))
Just bringing this back up to the top, as margo seems to have posted on the Old Thread - sorry, margo!
Trish - I've gone a very fetching shade of green at your remark! (hope you enjoy yourself, though!)
Lindybird I am sure we will thank you. Mia will have the time of her life too and be exhausted every night. I am sure she will remember where all the paddling / swimming areas are too. Her memory is incredible.
Now I can't remember who it was who decorated their clothing with Marmite(?) last week but I've just been shopping and tried carrying the bathroom cleaning stuff upstairs in the bag whilst also carrying a bowl of banana with yogurt and as I'm starving trying to grab a mouthfull on the way. Not a good result.....
Have a good mental picture of that now, Trish!!
Good morning all and Happy Mother's Day to our overseas Mums.
OH working this morning so a bit of time to catch up instead of waiting until Monday
We had plenty of rain overnight accompanied by thunder and lightening, which I hate. Billie wanted to go out but I wouldn't ler so the pair of us slept on the settee in the front room as I wanted to be there if she woke up and wanted to go out. At 2.15 she decided out was there she wanted her to be so I let her go and went to bed finally after waiting 15 minutes to see if she wanted to come back in. Needless to say she was waiting outside the conservatory door when OH got up at 6.00 so he let her in again. She has now woken up and gone outside again to sleep in the sun shining down on the patio.
Got very upset yesterday afternoon when a baby starling crashed into our kitchen window. Poor little thing broke it's neck and there was nothing I could do for it. Just held it in my hand talking softly as it passed away. We have stickers on all the windows but it still happens and over the past week there have been several bangs one the window but up till now they all got away with it.
AQ that muist have been very confusing for the teacher having 7 children called Any but all spelt in different way. Loved the letter from Mum, really made me smile.
Annette hope you enjoyed the concert, how lucky a spare ticket was going.
BrendaH it sounds as though the heavy rain and storms we had did not affect you much. Think it must have been centered over Dorset, it really hammered it down or a good few hours. Shows how hard the ground is though our lawns are not that wet, think it is gong to take a lot more rain before they start to recover a bit. I do hope you enjoy church celebrations today and lunch.
Lynette how kind of your OH do do commentary on cricket for people who have no sight. Thanks for the captures from Dunedin and the lively Hampton eaglets. Pleased you had a nice meal last evening.
OG lovely mother's day card and excellent photos from your outing last weekend.
trish2 so sorry to read about your BiL's dog, how sad but at least you were that at the peaceful end. Don;t know whether I could do that but now we have Billie have to accept the fact that she will leave us one day. Don't know how old she is but I suspect I and OH would want to be there. Hoping we wll have some happy times with her for a few years yet. The only pet i have lost was a few years ago when I lost the dearest litte budgie. He was such a character and I wept for days about him. He helped me though a very difficult period in my life and when things returned to normal it was almost as though he was saying his job was done and I would be OK. Still have some of his beautiful blue feathers in a frame and always talk to him when I dust it
Lindybird nice pics from the park. Hope you are having a good weekend and have welcomed the rain although we do need a lot more really.
DjoanS hope you manage to sort out new laptop quickly. I hate it when I get a new mobile and have to work out what to do with it again. Try to make them last as long as possible so I don't have to go through the whole process of entering all my contacts again, usually manage to put someone's number in wrongly and then wonder why I can't get through to them.
Sorry have not mentioned everyone but have a good Sunday and take care.
Margobird
trish 2 sorry you and OH have been feeling a bit under the weather, perhaps as you say the loss of BiL's dog did not help but hope you will feel 100% again soon. Hope your OH enjoys his birthday present. I am going into the New Forest in July to spend a day at falconry centre, will be flying barn owls and other birds of prey. My birthday was Boxing Day but wanted to leave it till July in the hope the weather will be OK.
Lindybird whoops thanks for that. I am feeling slightly shattered today after my very late night. Will have to have a bit of a power nap at some stage otherwise I won't be awake to cook the dinner tonight.
