Happy Easter to all

Alan says. . . . Another hot day. Even hotter than yesterday with the temp now 24.8c .
Hey Alan - Hot????? We call that "mild". Today expecting 23C here, currently 22.6C.

I have some catching up to do. My apologies to those whose questions I’ve not answered.

Sheila says AQ . . . . I love your travelogue! You are so descriptive and your photos are lovely too. I take it you have an interest in churches. Is this from an historical perspective, or architectural?
Sheila - Both really. I like old things and I love the stonework and shape of old churches. I don’t go into it too deeply. Couldn’t name the styles.

OG says AQ . . . . Oh dear! Sorry the paint saga doesn’t have a happy ending. Is it just reflecting the colour of the carpet?
OG - We thought at first it was just the reflection but we have laid a quite red Turkish mat across one end and paint is still greenish. We shall just have to buy more paintings and cover the walls as I saw in some stately homes in England. LOL

  • Good Morning ALL, Cloudy morning here but looks as if the sun is trying to shine. My computer was picked up yesterday so just have to wait for phone call to say when it will be returned.

Alicat, Sorry about your holiday arrangements but I am sure you will have calmed down by now. I guess your OH likes to play dangerously and you have, no doubt, put him right.

OG,  Not brilliant news about your son, but as you say, he can't be ready yet and his health must come first.  Also sorry to hear that Eagle Eye has not been too good. Just an ordinary cold can leave you feeling so tired.

Diane, Just been reading that the tornado count has become so numerous that they are having difficulty keeping up. So glad that you are safe and sound.

Lynette, Doesn't sound as if much serious singing took place at your choir practice, but a good time was had by all.

Linda, Good news that your friend was able to return home after her operation. I hope she feels able to join in Friday's festivities. Also great to hear that Buzz continues to put on weight. If your medication continues to disagree with you, do let your doctor know and get an alternative one.

Auntie, Good to hear you have been enjoying yourself and had time away from your job.

Dibnlib, Thanks for your lovely photographs after your caper watch.

Alan, Poor Hamish on more medication and now yourself with a cold. Here's hoping you both recover rapidly.

Joan, Do enjoy your pre Birrthday meal.

I have promised neighbour that I will check on her mother, who is staying with them but will be on her own most of today. She has had quite a few falls lately.  See you all later.

  • Thanks for all your posts and pics.

Dibnib - lovely photos of the loch and Dillon - glad you had a nice time Caper watching.

Alan - glad to hear Hamish has treatment for his paw and hope it is soon feeling a lot better as you too as you said you were feeling under the weather.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DJOAN   for Friday.

  • afternoon all

Just had a read back to catch up on everyone's news. Thanks for all the lovely pictures/posts etc.

Sorry i can't mention everyone but

OG-sorry about your son. Hope the doctor can help a little

    Joan, happy birthday for tomorrow

Diana, so glad all OK there. The storms have been terrible over such a big area and pleased they have missed your place.

Not much to report here. Toffee is growing every day. Clover is doing great and Lida comes back from Boot Camp at the weekend.

Also mother in law comes out in 3 weeks , for 3 weeks.......

Hope everyone enjoys the wedding tomorrow. My mum is watching it with some pals. Even my OH wants it recorded so she can "just see the dress"...

  • Hello Gary pleased yo are all OK and Toffee is growing and Clover doing well  Will be watching the wedding but with frequent looks in to catch up with EJ and Odin.

    Margobird

  • Great news Margobird.

You'll have such a great time at LG. It will be wonderful

  • Gary I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone.  Back in October when I applies, November when I heard I had been accepted and now June 11 is looming up fast.  I know I am going to love it up there and probably feel quite emotional when I see EJ and Odin live.  Can no longer find words to describe my love for ospreys and to think I have only known about them for the last 3 years.   .

  • Morning all: I missed OG's bit about "dark pink hollyhock and blue clematis" Was that her proposed Royal Wedding outfit? :-)

Cirrus: I heard about the speed of light when I was a kid and still can't get over it! But I was listening to a science program the other day and the guy said that given recent findings, you could "theoretically" travel at the speed of light; typically, I can't remember what the findings were! You know how "far out" these physicists can get; I was wondering if Peter Higgs was waaaay ahead of his time (in the same way Leonardo da Vinci was in designing a flying machine). All so interesting! Ah, I see that Tiger has answered my question.

AQ: Oh my - a replica of The Ring! Are they called the Ladies of the Ring? (Early morning effort to be funny, please excuse!) And for only $38,000? Sign me up (ha!). I saw the recipe for the choc biscuit cake in the LA TImes last Sunday; (won't be making it).

Lindybird: Good that someone has taken control of the queen's hats - but yes, those shoes - and those pesky handbags! Can't she stuff her tissues up her sleeves like everyone else and stick her lipstick in Phillip's pocket? Hey, the wedding sounds like a perfect opportunity to do ironing; not sure what I'm doing: One eye on the nest, the other on the telly - or sleep? Hmmm. Can't remember the last time I traveled at the speed of light.....

    dibnlib: Lovely pix!

Alan: Any idea what happened to Hamish's paw? Weight Watchers might be a way to reinforce good habits? I know if I miss my gym routine, my snack quota gradually increases. Besides which, for some odd reason most women consider themselves overweight, regardless of the facts.

jsb: Maybe if your password was in Japanese......?

OG; Sorry to hear about son having a hard time adjusting; I think I'd have a hard time in that line of work, lots of quick decisions and what with not being familiar with the tasks....; also shift work just doesn't do it for some people.

Lynette: Lovely image (painting? print?) for Djoan.

    Djoan: Early Happy Birthday!

Margobird: Indeed, June is just a few weeks away. We'll be all ears (eyes) waiting to learn about your experience.

See that more than 200 people have died in weather-related damage back East and down South. Just awful and very, very unusual.   Off to look at fountains for garden today - for the birds of course!! Can't stand there all day with a hose just so the hummingbirds can take a shower. :-)

  • Just in case I don't come on early tomorrow, A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW DjoanS, and enjoy your early celebrations!

jsb I am sure that Mr & Mrs B Tit will move in, even if not this year.  Silver birches provide such a diverse and productive habitat.  Just a thought, perhaps the fact that there are feeders below the box makes the accommodation look more vulnerable?

Lynette what a pretty cat Misty is!

AQ how od that Jasper should develop allergies recently, and at five years old.  I hope the vet finds out what is causing it, or the process of elimination on food works.

dibnlib what a beautiful photo of my favourite Loch!  Please say thank you to your OH.  Dillon looks as though he enjoys the water - was he dry by the time you drove home!!

Sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather Alan.  Poor Hamish too, hope his paw soon gets better.  He certainly won't want long walks at the moment.  I agree that at nine stone something Lady P doesn't need to seriously follow WW strategy!  Now, me, on the other hand really ought to!

I was saddened to hear that over 193 people have been killed as a result of the storms in the States.  I'm still thinking of Diane.

Well.  The wedding.  Will I be watching?  Of course I will!!  However, I am getting a bit bored with all the media hype and build-up.  They were interviewing those sleeping on the pavement near Westminster this morning.  Three folk all the way from California, who wanted to attend to remember Princess Di???  Why?  I had hoped that by now we had moved on.  Everything is different now, if nothing less than it is a true love marriage!  It will be a much less formal marriage I think.  After all, for now at least Will is a working man and not heir to the throne - his father is.  I just hope that the media gives them space.

Odin is egg sitting at the moment having brought in a lovely big fish for HIS beloved.

Edit:  Hello Annette, I missed you when I was writing this.  I see you have an update number of deaths.  Thank you.

  • Coffee break in middle of planting new alpines.

Brenda – I hope neighbour’s mother will be okay and no falls while you are kindly watching out for her.

Lynette – lovely blossom for Joan’s birthday.

Gary – pleased you and animals are all well, and looking forward to another visit from MiL.  I am looking forward to meeting you in August.  We shan’t sit and watch the wedding, but may record some to see her arrive at the church and then fast forward to the balcony scene especially to see Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire fly past!  I wonder if this one will get her Bridegroom’s name right, not like his mother who got it wrong!

Annette – my royal wedding outfit will be my gardening clothes - can’t waste the fine weather!  If it’s anything like here, loads of garden fountains and water features to choose from – enjoy!

This guy wanted to join us when we sat having two cups of coffee with Wendy last week:

Coffee finished – back to the garden.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Oh, OG, what a lovely photo!  How kind of it to pose so beautifully.  Ah ha, so there will be the traditional fly past at the wedding.  As we came home yesterday after lunch I saw a group of old planes heading towards Duxford, no doubt either practising or gathering together for tomorrow.
