Happy Easter to all

Alan says. . . . Another hot day. Even hotter than yesterday with the temp now 24.8c .
Hey Alan - Hot????? We call that "mild". Today expecting 23C here, currently 22.6C.

I have some catching up to do. My apologies to those whose questions I’ve not answered.

Sheila says AQ . . . . I love your travelogue! You are so descriptive and your photos are lovely too. I take it you have an interest in churches. Is this from an historical perspective, or architectural?
Sheila - Both really. I like old things and I love the stonework and shape of old churches. I don’t go into it too deeply. Couldn’t name the styles.

OG says AQ . . . . Oh dear! Sorry the paint saga doesn’t have a happy ending. Is it just reflecting the colour of the carpet?
OG - We thought at first it was just the reflection but we have laid a quite red Turkish mat across one end and paint is still greenish. We shall just have to buy more paintings and cover the walls as I saw in some stately homes in England. LOL

  • Good afternoon Sheila FE and thanks so much for those links, really gives me a good idea now.  I don't often look at the main blog, just go when LG put a post up and to acknowledge and thank them.  A lot of bickering last time I read through all the posts.  Must admit I am getting slightly nervous now as my trip up gets ever closer, will probably be a complete bag of nerves by the time I get there.  Nevertheless I am so looking forward to it.

  • Cirrus  That is a really nice tribute. I first came across Sarah McLachlan at Live8  She was the only artist that caught my attention at a very forgetable event.

  • AQ poor little Jasper but pleased to see he is a lot better now.

ALICAT  noticed you have not been posting, are you OK.  Please let us know as we do miss people when they do not post.

  • Good afternoon dibnlib and what a great photo you OH has taken of your crab apple blossom.  Lovely blue sky too.  Hope you did not suffer from your long walk on your own.

  • OG  There is a coffee shop at the Findhorn Foundation, though it is a while since I was there and think that neither coffee nor cake were particularly inspiring. There is also a shop near the entrance which my friend said sells things she can't find anywhere else. Can't remember what she bought I'm afraid so that is no help.

That's very kind of you Tiger  (I assume you mean the Ode I wrote? ) - but I thought Sarah McLachlan was a singer. She wirtes her  own songs then?

Off to check in your Tribute thread

  • Up at the crack of Sparrows this am (4.00) and headed down to LG for the Caper-watch or as OH would have it (at that time in the am it should be called a "Mad Caper".) The sky was lightening as we drove down and a magical mist hung above the water. Very busy there and there was a male Caper displaying and occassionally caught sight of a female - all this through a camera as the mist was obscuring the pair of Capers until about 7.30 when the mist started to lift and we got sight of male Caper throught the telescope. Staff very knowledgable about Capers but were a bit stumped when OH started to ask about the Osps. EJ by the way was covered in frost . Anyway we were introduced to someone who was up on holiday and knew "a bit about Osps" It turned out to be David Gascoigne who was warden at LG fairly recently and we spent ages chatting with him so it was a good visit all round.  I mentioned

We watched a male displaying and caught sight of a female occassionally but mostly on camera as the mist obscured sight of them until about 7.30 when the mist lifted slightly and we were able to see the male throught the telescope. The staff were very knowledgable about Capers but stumped when OH asked some questions about Osps. We were then introduced to someone who"knew a little about Osps" and it turned out to be David Gascoigne who was a warden at LG fairly recently. We spent at least an hour enjoying his company, before leaving to walk Dillon and head home for a big cooked breakfast at Girvans in town. When we arrived just after 5.30 poor EJ looked sooooo cold sitting on the nest covered in frost!!!!

MARGO mentioned about you volunteering and once again he said they will make sure you do not encounter any difficulties getting to and from your accommodation to do your volunteering duties. He said everyones limitations are taken into account and catered for accordingly. OH and I remarked to each other that if you see the scenery even half as well as we did today you will be completely under the spell of The Cairngorm National Park and the Highlands. A friend has a rather odd Father in Law who believes "You can't see the view for the mountains" and he means it. I think they are from near Chichester but that is no excuse!!!!!!

  • How is this for a real rarity? Four chicks in a bald eagle's nest?  See   4 Chick Bald Eagle Nest.

  • What a cheer up Tiger. Thanks

  • Thanks Tiger for that just what we need after the sad news of today.  All looking healthy as well.
