Evening all: Been out most of the day; just sat down - phew.  Off to check other threads; back in a bit!

  • Hope things have gone well for Lynette's OH today with the scan - perhaps they will be able to get further on with diagnosis now.

Diane:   Decisions!  and more of a decision than just what to put on your toast this morning!  Shall be sending you good 'vibes' and HUGS to help with the process.  Glad to know that you feel there may be a way for you to continue living in the country, and still making an income to put the bread on the table.  Didn't know whether to laugh or cry at your description of being a stick in the mud!  And gophers that bite!  UGH!

Alicat:  Hope your toolbox injury is less painful today - that could have been nasty.  Hugs to Bobbie.

Annette:  In the Printer Wars!  Oh, how I long to throw inanimate things out of the window when they do that. Congrats on keeping your patience.

AQ:   More interesting pics, just loved the Black Stump and story.  Didn't know that Mobile chairs were called gophers there.  You learn something every day, they say.

dibnlib:  Wet dogs are definitely in a class of their own for smells.  Friend had a Beagle who loved to roll in fox poo!  Luckily Buzz loves to have a rub down with a towel then he's not too bad.

margo:  Another great night out!  I would love to have seen Vincent & Flavia - they do seem to be small, even on the TV.  But good movers!  Keep us up to date with the evolving tale of Billy Whizz.

We stayed up to watch most of the Golf last night, what a surprise ending to the story.  We also saw the Grand National Race on Saturday, although did not place a bet, and I was rather disturbed by the fact that two horses were killed, and only 19 out of the 40 runners even finished.  Also didn't like the way the winner was beaten a lot on the last stretch - I know the jockey was keen to win, but I hate to see it.  Have some sympathy with those who want to Ban the Race - I think it could at least be modified so that the jumps are not as dangerous for both horses and riders.

Husband has come home with a sticky eye from the Eye Hospital - he went there on advice of GP who was at a loss as to the problem - Specialist said it was a stitch still left in his eye from cataract operation in summer 2009!  He has taken it out and given him drops to put in.  OH had been struggling with the itchy feeling for some weeks so is now very relieved.

Now we just have the Vet to contend with - will write on here later to tell you the results of that.

  • ALICAT Ouch nasty accident, so glad it was a plastic tool box.

OH had a bad morning with streaming eyes but took an anti histimine and improved greatly. we decided to go to Starbucks for a change and as it was Monday I popped into fitness club to see if I could find Wendy. I was just about to give up when I found her and she joined us for coffee and cake which was nice. Dillon still lead walks only but may give him his freedom for a short walk tomorrow morning.

OG may have missed you but if not have a safe journey and enjoy your time with your family. Hope to see you next time you venture North.

  • Morning all:

dibnlib: Wet dog on dead fish, eh? Sounds like ....no fun at all.

jsb: We got a new "address" for the new modem and the printer is still at the old "address." Have read all the booklets and online "help" forums and they all give fairly clear info on what to do, but when I do it, it doesn't work!!  I printed out a "report" from the printer that gave it's IP address as 0.0.0.0, but I wrote down the real address on the manual when I first got it and that doesn't seem to work. Thanks for that link, I'll try it out in a bit.

Brenda: Maybe I'll give your OH or nephew a shout if I can't sort out printer! :-)  I remember driving along a country lane in England on one visit with my handbag strap dangling outside the car door (unbeknownst to me). Got home to find a huge clump of horse manure stuck on it!

Margobird: I was thinking that you'd made really fast progress with Billy over the last week. Brilliant.

OG: Some of those steamships are quite luxurious; I think the history of that river would make it worthwhile..

AQ: Magpie looked like he was off to a formal event - the royal wedding perchance? (Spoke to sister in Uk today and she's heartily tired of hearing about the wedding.) Fascinating info about the black stump - haven't heard that expression.

Lindybird: That dog at the BBQ:. "So, you think about another 10 minutes before we eat....?" Stella's ceremony sounds lovely; what a shame but nice that everyone turned out.... Do hope Buzz and OH feel better.

OK. Back to the printer wars...

  • ALAN  Didn't like to say it earlier but I was very glad that Tiger Woods didn't win. Hard to believe that Rory McIlroy went from a lead of 4 to joint 15 th place!!!

LINDY  hope Buzz is better soon. Do you know how old he is?

  • was looking forward to my lunch of salmon flakes, potato salad and asparagus. Mouthful no 2 and I got 3 bones. well that completely put me off so I ate the veg and guess who is getting the salmon for his supper. At least it is not going to waste. I know it is silly but once I find a bone I cannot eat any more. When I buy fresh haddock I cut a fair chunk away before preparing it, that way I can be sure of no bones. Now off to give Dillon his supper and boy, is he going to enjoy it!

Before I go did anyone else have the medicine Tedrol as a child (think it was for chest infections). honestly it made cod liver oil taste like nectar!!!!

  • dibnlib : We once had a labrador that used to roll in foxes poo and I also remember a dead fish occasion. It must be a retriever thing. Fortunately Hamish does not roll on anything apart from grass.

  • Hello Everyone: Well after 3 stonking days up here on Speyside, dizzy heights of 22 on Saturday wet and a cold 5 degrees today. Lots done in the garden and both my big shed and OH garage got a spring clean. They become dumping grounds in the winter so a good sort out was a weekend priority. Car also got a real polish and inside had lots of attention as well.

Went to the gym only to bump into Didnlib ( I was easily reconisable with wet hair and my blue towel!!!). She invited me to Starbucks for coffee. I had assumed she had been for a swim but once we met up I found that lunch had been binned or Dilloned and as they drove for coffee they thought it was about the time I finished my spinning class. Such a nice thought and coffee and cake and also a good "blether" with Dibnlib and her OH took my mind off the fact I am missing my girls far more than I could have imagined.

Its not just a rertiever thing this rolling in dead stuff. Daisy May who refuses to retieve anything in her short 2 years found every dead salmon by  the side of the Spey when she has been up. If any of us saw offending thing a shout of "FISH" would resound and she would be steered her away from it.

Margo: I bet the real tango was a fantastic experience. They are so well matched and it is great that they can separate their tangled personal life from their show life. Not long now to your trip up here. Meeting up with a couple of girls next week who are at LG looking after EJ and Odin so if you have any questions for them just drop me a line.

  • Lindybird have you got any news how Buzz  is hope its good news for you

Maybe your moles got tired of those wretched winters and came west to snack on all the worms in our garden (I tell you, all that mulch that we put on the grass for over a year did marvellous things to our soil - never seen so many fat worms - and the birds like them too!) Never crossed my mind that moles would bite people. :-(

Annette: I'll bet your birds are happy with the worm buffet. You can have the moles! But here in Indiana, we have Eastern Moles. Ours have long, wicked claws, sharp teeth, and long noses. I don't think they would deliberately attack people, but I think they would bite and scratch anything that got in their way underground (they are almost completely blind). Gotta love 'em; they're such UGLY little critters! http://www.fcps.edu/islandcreekes/ecology/eastern_mole.htm

I hope you get your technology problems resolved. I'd help if I could, but I don't think I'd be very effective unless I could see the situation. Probably wouldn't be much help then, either. :-)

  • Lindybird  your poor OH having a stitch left in all that time.  I hope his problems settle now.  Do let us know how it goes at the vet.

Dibnlib that name doesn't ring any bells but as a child I suffered repeatedly from tonsillitis until I had the wretched things removed.  The antibiotics I used to live on (it felt like that anyway) were absolutely disgusting and I used to keep very quiet in the hope that my mum would forget to give them to me.  Unfortunately that never worked!
