Hi all: very late starting this - was gone most of the day. I saw Odin on the nest - brilliant! Now off to check on Lady and, hopefully, catch up on chat!
What a beautiful day. I had a dentist appointment in Bishop's Stortford, miles away from where I live, but as a child the family joined the practice in the 60s and after a few changes in dentists at the practice during that time I have been with my lady for possibly as much as 20 years. I trust and like her, so until she retires I guess I will continue to do a 30mile+ round trip! I've been in the garden a lot of the day, there is so much to do! I felt myself talking to you all as I walked out there. My heart was fit to bust it was so beautiful. The buzzard was calling overhead, the skylarks soaring. I saw my first blackcap. Yesterday it was the sighting of my first swallow of the season. Mating is in the air here too. I spotted 'my' buzzard on the die-back oak across the field busily on top of another - I wish I knew where their nest was: I'm sure it's not the tree they were on. Mr Pheasant has been rounding up his ladies, and pouncing given the opportunity. The partridge are wandering around in pairs. Frog spawn is in the pond, but although I have seen the toads I cannot yet see their ribbons of spawn. It seems it is now the time for the newts to start mating too! The blackbird is singing its little head off on the top of a very old laburnum. Why would I want to live anywhere else!!

Beautiful photos of the swan Alan. Margo have a lovely time at Strictly, I think Darren and Lilia are great. Diane nice to have you back again, and home in the country! Thank you for the photos of your trip AQ. It looks fascinating and sounds really interesting. Back to the garden for another half hour!
Not looked in for a few days

Margo have a good weekend. I'm sure I should know this but what colour is Billy?
Margobird Thanks for your concern. I'm ok. Was going to post to you anyway. You mentioned animals sensing if something was amiss. I know they do. When I was growing up we had an exuberant beardie cross but when we went to visit my Grandparents he changed completely. My Grandpa was blind and Bobby would just go and sit quietly by his side as if he knew something was wrong. Great news about Billy. You sound so thrilled. I am really pleased for you.
ALICAT Glad you have a 4 legged companion again

lg stats
Alicat – pleased wee Bobbie has been passed as healthy. Time will soon pass until her second injection and “walkies”
Margo – progress with Billy seems to be accelerating now! I am sure he’ll settle with a bed – won’t be able to resist – but until then the garden table with his legs in the air sounds ideal! Enjoy your trip out and show on Saturday – and hope the weather stays fine for garden on Sunday.
Alan – we never seem to think of picnics these days – will try to reintroduce them this year! Pleased you enjoyed your outing - excellent photo of the Swan!
Brenda – I was only thinking this morning you might be about due back, and there you are! Pleased you had good family time, including others’ Day visit from your Son, and that all was satisfactory for your OH’s check-up.
Sheila – a lovely post from you with all the evidence of spring in the countryside! We took a rural route home today, and the Lambs and Calves – and even a foal - looked so lovely in the sunshine – and lots of Buzzards gliding about in the thermals.
Lynette – you sound very busy – I hope your OH is doing well. Enjoy the weekend.
Dibnlib – lovely story about the Bearded Bobby and Grandpa!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
