Weekly Chat, Sunday April 3 2011

Hi all: very late starting this - was gone most of the day. I saw Odin on the nest - brilliant!  Now off to check on Lady and, hopefully, catch up on chat!

  • Tiger, I've just had another (albeit) speed read of Henry's story but can't find a reference to how old he was - just no more Henry after 2008 . I actually feel quite melancholy about it. An untimely demise. I  am SO thankful that both Odin and Laird have arrived safely back to the ladies.

  • Morning All:   Have been out, early, to take one of the cars to the garage for its MOT.  Hopefully there will be nothing else found and not a big bill at the end of the day   :-((  !!

Lots of news from everyone and too much to comment upon, but thanks to Alan for the interesting link to the new platforms on the golf course.  Good that people are interested enough to actually do something about it.

margo - so very sorry to hear your sad news - I do hope that your sister can keep her pecker up for the next few weeks and that she can gain strength from all her loving family.  I shall be thinking of you All.  <HUGS>

  • going out again now, to buy my OH his Tree for his birthday present - will report later on what he decided upon.  Hope to be able to post some pics, later.  (not of the tree!  others!)

EDIT;     We now seem to have 442 Members!  Welcome to all newbies!

  • Morning all - wet and windy here ... BUT ... the Met office says it will be sunny and 20C this afternoon ... mmmm ... I won't hold my breath :-)

margo - so sorry to hear of yet more bad news for your sister ... and of course for you ... HUGS. Enjoy your trip to London ... it will do you good, even if a bit tiring!

Tiger - thanks for the link to Henry ... he was around just before I discovered ospreys so it is most interesting! Fantastic news about Baldrick.

Annette - your day yesterday sounds wonderful.

OG - hope the interview goes well for your son. Lovely photos as usual ... Mrs Blackbird certainly is working hard!

ALICAT - lovely pics of Bobbie - she is so cute ... I'm sure she will be a wonderful companion for you!

Thanks to everyone else for chat etc ... must go and do things!

    Take care.

  • Happy tree shopping Lindy

  • Good morning all have a bit of spare time this morning to catch up with things.

Annette, Cirrus, original goldfinch and Lindybird for you kind thoughs and hugs.  I am not coping at all well this morning, the tears held back last night have been flowing freely.  We are all so devastated at the news.  I think my sister realised that she has go down the chemotherapy route now as options have run out.  They will not start it until she has been to a wedding that she is going to and also are not able to start until the plaster is off her broken arm.  They need to put the line in that arm.  She has been through so much and coped admirably and no doubt will cope now so we have to keep our chins up for her.  Had an awful night's sleep as I just couldn't stop thinking about her.  Have to get myself together for trip to London don't want to keep breaking down all the time.  I have been thinking back to when we were all young and looking at photographs of us together.  We would never have guessed then whIRat life can bring.  Still have to keep strong for her and give as much support as we can and that is what we must do.

Sorrty for such a downbeat post but good to know people are thinking of my family at this touch time.

Lindybird hope car gets through MOT and nothing need doing.

Henry was ringed as a chick on 9th July 1998 on the Black Isle. Henry's colour ring was orche-black HV on left leg. Ring seen here. So Henry was nine years old when he was last seen.

Henry arrived at Loch Garten on 11th April 2003. The week before Agincourt got mentioned in the osprey diary so when an osprey turned up wearing a ring HV he soon got dubbed Henry V. Later the ring fell off and the V got dropped too.

The story of Henry and EJ is covered on p 22 -29  "Life of Ospreys" by Roy Dennis.

  • Thanks DjonS  for your kind thoughts and hugs.  i agree it is probably a good thing we are going out, although it will not delete it from my mind it will help to be doing something.

  • Margo I was so sorry to hear the latest news about your sister.  She has been so positive so far, but it must be very difficult for you all.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

  • Margo - I hope you can enjoy your evening - I am sure your Sister wants you to carry on as normal.  There will be tearful times, but there can be good times too in the months ahead, and it's no good making yourself ill.  She is carrying on with her life and would want you to carry on with yours - for the sake of your OH and yourself.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
