Hi all: very late starting this - was gone most of the day. I saw Odin on the nest - brilliant! Now off to check on Lady and, hopefully, catch up on chat!
Morning all: Slept well but woke tired. How can that be?
Trish2: Great news about "your" dog. Thanks for letting us know!
Lindybird: Oh my - that Monday Smile photo looks authentic to me, not to mention downright scary! They often don't put the prices on stamps here - although we can buy batches of generic so-called "forever" First Class stamps that you can use past their sell-by date, so to speak. Sounds like a lovely visit with Tomasz!
patriciat: Good news about sis's dog.
Tiger: That young guy ("3 pound? 2 pound?") has probably never been inside a post office! :-)
Cirrus: Had to laugh at "switched on in the hospital" remark - never heard that! (But I agree.) Also hope someone is also switched on a docs office this morning for grandson's visit.
Margobird: The Audubon Society suggests we put out nectar only about 4 or 5 days a week in the summer or the birds get dependent on it. Let's hope next round of radiotherapy will have some effect on that third tumor. Rhys is at the age where they catch everything that's making the rounds of their playmates. Hope he feels better soon! Magic show sounds like a lot of fun - those tricks are intriguing, even though we know it's all sleight of hand.
OG: Lovely clear day today; looking forward to my time with the whales (all I have the energy for right now). :-)
George: Take care of yourself!
Alan: More amazing pix from that peregrine cam- and a lovely Clivia!
Better get moving; take care everyone.
Margobird So sorry that your poor sister has to undergo more radiotherapy. She has had an awful time. I'll keep her in my prayers. And poor little Rhys - they seem to pick up everything once they start nursery. Probably best to get these things over early.
Lynette Hope your OH's stay in hospital will come up with some helpful treatment and that he'll soon be restored to full health.
We had a visit from a male sparrowhawk att lunchtime - sat on a shed down the garden, looking straight at the house. I've never had such a good look at one before. Reading and replying with the LG webcam minimised so I can keep checking for activity. One osp on the nest now but I can't get a good look - I'm not very good at identifying them anyway!
Margobird so sorry about your sister needing more radiotherapy. That sounds like a long session. I hope it works for her.
We've had a water meter installed today following the arrival of the huge annual bill. It will be interesting to see what the difference is. I think the job turned out to be more difficult than normal. Poor man got absolutely drenched as it poured down while he was doing it.
I think there must be a blackbirds nest in the bush growing on the side of the garage next door. I was cleaning bedroom windows earlier and there was a cat on the roof leaning over and the male and female blackbirds were doing their best to get it's attention away. They were virtually dive bombing it and sitting only feet away from it on the garage roof poor things. I think they failed as then I saw the cat on the ground and it obviously had something. I just hope they hadn't all hatched.
Ironing etc done. Weather has turned out nice, but too late to start anything outside. Dinner is in the oven.
Alan – great, cheery photo of a lovely plant thanks.
Lindy – sounds like a lovely family visit on Mothering Sunday – and presents all round!
Annette – have a gentle day – and Happy Whale Watching!
Trish – we had water meter fitted at previous house –– and it was well worth it. This was after the two daughters left - not sure I would have wanted to measure how much they used for v e r y l o n g showers and hair-washing!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Trish 2 no doubt now you have a water meter you will be watching its use, so you are bound to use less, and consequent lower bill! Sod's law! We have a bore hole, and tend to be more careful when it is particularly dry, but in 24 years we haven't had a problem - but given there are only two of us, I guess it might be different with a family of 4, with two teenagers!
Odin and EJ are enjoying the evening sun.
Last night Caroline mentioned the apparent torch light that bloggers had commented on. I know that car lights are often seen at night, but this was something different and worth remembering:

Hi Leen et al, just to reassure you again about the lights - we have 2 night cameras, the volunteers on shift were panning around with one and the infrared beam it gives out was picked up by the infrared camera on the nest. Please don't panic if you see this again, we have volunteers on shift 24/7 keeping a watch on the nest.

SheilaFE you must be very remote to have a bore hole. You lucky things. Only 2 of us + Mia so hopefully it will be worth it as the unmetered bill was horrendous.
Well tea is on so I'd better switch off for today and go and sort that out. OH slightly later than normal tonight but I'm on holiday this week and when he left this morning he said not to have the computer running all day................!
Hi Guys still a bit hectic here as youngest still in residence until Thursday. 11 mile walk along the Speyside Way yesterday and a wet windy walk at Loch an Eilein today. Right on cue a very sunny end to the day.
Have been reading and watching and will try harder after Thursday.
Sheila I have water from a spring in the hills and as long as we have snow in the winter we never have a problem. Crystal clear sweet and FREE!!
Hi i would like you to meet somebody

Hi. Just spent an hour on phone talking to Son! Exhausted! Started with hearing about a possible job (not clear whether paid or voluntary), discussed plans for when we see him – then listened to him talking about everything from steam trains through piles of laundry to ukuleles!
Sheila – thanks for Caroline’s info about the strange lights at night!
Wendy – no need to apologise – just carry on enjoying those nice walks with your daughter!
Alicat – !!!! now, where has that come from?!!!
Still no news from Lynette – hope that doesn’t mean bad news. Off to see if she has posted anywhere else. If you look in here, Lynette, we are still praying!
Hi OG OH thought it would be a good idea to get me a new baby as i was still upset we picked her up yesterday
