While we were away I made a note of this message left by Balbuzard to look into polder landscapes and have found it very interesting. Posted on Wednesday, 19 August 2009 at 7:20She is beside the Marais de Gironde charente-maritime.lpo.fr/page.php a nature reserve of LPO Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux well-known for it's migrating birds during July and August - White Storks, Honey Buzzards, Bee-Eaters, Black and Red Kites, Montagu's Harrier, and hirundines. The area right beside the Gironde estuary is a polder landscape with many ponds good for wildfowling later in the year. There is a panoramic observation platform for migration-watching at Mortagne 6km NW of Les Ebaupins.
I did paste the Marain de Gironde link into google and translated before opening so it made sense.I also went to this link - http://www.meander-advies.nl/english/portfolio-projects.html - and opened the PDF file (Inundation near the Gironde (France) about half way down.Thank you for the information Balbuzard. It is a bit deep but for anybody who is interested I hope the links work
This might also explain why Kate thought it was a bit like the fens and Holland.
I do hope the above makes sense. Another example of me knowing exactly what I am talking about but not being able to explain it in an easy way that others will understand.
Use whatever talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sing the best.- Henry Van ***
Thanks, Teresa, that's interesting. That is, all the info about the area is, all the technical stuff you use is right ov er my head but I'm glad to hear that its a great place for migrating birds.
Tres interessant ma petit choux!!!
