  • Hi everyone.

jsb:  Fascinating birdhouse activity tales.  Thanks for sharing.

Annette:  Sorry about the technical nature of the last joke.  The puchline reffers to the LBW rule, which can sometimnes be quite contentious.  Have a nice time at the Botanic Garden :-)

  • Alas not SheilaFE. There are 2 teams in Dundee and my team lost today for the first time in 24 league matches. The stadiums for both teams are in the same street hence the intense rivalry.

  • Oh dear Alan, and there I thought I was being clever.  My commiserations then!

Ah, so you support Dundee, and the 'others' are United?

  • ALAN what a bummer as I got excited for you as well!!!

  • NEW BLOG FROM CAROILINE HE IS BACK AND IT ALL STARTS NOW>>>HOW EXCITING!!!!!!

  • United are indeed the "others" SheilaFE.

    Bobblehead pic from Decorah:

  • Quite a decent day – less wind and lots of sunshine.  OH planted potatoes.  I did some ironing and other indoor bits and pieces in morning, then joined him outside part of the afternoon.  Since then had chicken dinner now doing very little.  Hoping to get to church tomorrow morning.

Patricia – hope Fly had no adverse reaction to booster.  Been thinking of you and OH today – thanks for email.

Sandy – good to “see” you on here again with Derby Peregrine.

Annette – love Heucheras!  .Got to be clever with dividing mine this year, into pots so OH can dig their border and replant for next year.  I managed to move them (except my newest ones) from previous garden via a rented place for four months, so should be able to give them plenty of TLC here.  I think they use UV light among other things to clean the fishy treatment tank.

Lynette – so sorry medication gave your OH an extra problem – hope he’s more comfortable now.  Good that you have a date for the scan, but I expect every day will seem like a week while you wait!

Wendy – hope your weather improved as the day went on - guess it must have done, because Son took it into his head to drive to Tesco’s in Inverness.

Sheila – I think it was behaviour that led me to ID the sex of the two Canada Geese- I just seemed to instinctively know which was which – probably the honking and that bit of aggression, and then the way he watched over her while she was grazing.  Just noticed he has a whiter neck and she has more white behind – so just checking the books … no, that’s not significant, books say they are alike – but do point to the characteristic behaviour of Mr guarding Mrs!  How lovely for you to have Fallow Deer walking nearby!  And seeing the Red Kite too – the Galloway Red Kites are getting nearer to us each year, and they are lovely birds to watch – also see them when we visit the Black Isle of course.  BiL used to live in Trumpington, so I know where you were near Pampisford and Sawston – he now lives in Fulbourn, other side of Cambridge!

Lindy – sorry for all who were close to “Stella”, especially your friend, her neighbour, but pleased her suffering is over.

jsb – thanks for Tsunami-surviving Dog story.

Tiger – what a lovely event to remember from your childhood.  I hope you paddled, and built sandcastles and had an ice-cream – maybe even a donkey-ride?  I wouldn’t want to be Lily, keeping those three in order while out and about this summer!!

Alan – that Decorah Bobblehead is the cutest thing!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi everyone.

It's a brilliant evening.  I'm absolutely delighted to have caught Odin's arrival.  Last year I missed both Odin and EJ's arrivals, the laying of all three eggs, and the hatching of all three chicks.  So this year I'm one better off already. Hooray!

Alan:  Commiserations on Dundee losing today.  Celtic didn't even get a chance to play today.  The lunch time kick off at Inverness was called off at about 10.15.  I heard quite recently that the Dundee vs Dundee United rivarly was based on Dundee fans mostly coming from within the city, and United fans mostly coming from outlying areas.  Is this true?  Brilliant bobblehead pic :-)

    Wendyb:
Thanks for the heads up re the new blog.  This has been a mightilly exciting day :-)
