ALICAT;     do try and eat - you must keep up your food or you'll make yourself ill, you know.  Casper would not have wanted you to feel like this - he is happy now, and you have to try and remember all those times you shared together when you were both glad to be in each others company.  < BIG HUG >

Hi ALL, had a great evening last night  at a pre-season meeting of the osprey volunteers for Bassenthwaite, there were about 100 people!  We had a presentation of a summary of what happened last year, with the pics we have seen on here of the progress of no 11 and no 12, as well as more information about discovering the demise and remains of no 11.  Then a speaker about Invasive Non-Native Species and how to look out for them and deal with or report them (mainly plants such as Himalayan balsam and Japanese knotweed). 

 Then the star turn, Tim and Paul from Rutland  spoke and did a slide show of their trip to the Gambia, which Alan gave links to on here, and how they found the Bass osprey from 2007 (John took the pics mostly, but was busy receiving osps at Rutland!).  They also found several German and Scottish ospreys - there was a big cheer at the note saying "Germany 3 - Scotland 4".  They also updated us on the Egyptian goose being turfed off the nest, but no info about the egg LOL. 

There were sheets of paper where people had filled in what shifts they could do, but us new people are going to Whinlatter for training on Sunday, so I will remember to take my diary with me.

Sheila, I read the David Gessner book around Christmas, having bought it from Abe Books after Lindy mentioned it, it was excellent and very well written.

Apparently the Bassenthwaite female has arrived, but no cam yet (insider information).

Thanks Terry for the  news of the  Bassenthwaite female.  Lots of females waiting for their partners now.

ALICAT   you must eat or as Lindybird says you will make yourself ill.  I know it is so hard for you but Casper would want you to go on and also Tigger.  Little Casper is happy now and not suffering.  Of course it easy for me to say but I do really understand how you are feeling but please look after yourself and post whenever you feel you need support.  Lots of hugs from me and I am thinking of you.
