Weekly Chat, Sunday March 27, 2011

Morning all; dinner time here - well getting close - off to check the options; back to catch up later.

  • Oh no, just read Tiger and Diane's additions to last week's thread consoling Alicat on the loss of Casper!!

Alicat: I'm so, so sorry. Huge hugs coming your way!

  • Alicat: Just had a chance to read your post about Casper taking a turn for the worse. I feel so bad for you. I'm sure you had no choice at the end - after all, you wouldn't have wanted him to suffer. He was so lucky to live with you and be cared for so lovingly. I do wish that words could make a difference, but only time will. Sigh.

Sheila: What a clever OH you have - all your LG pages on one tab! Aha! Oxford won eh? Must say when I lived in the UK, I was an Oxford supporter, but at that time they always seemed to lose...

    patriciat: Congrats to Tweed!

OG: That's a nice commute for your son - and no petrol to buy! Was talking to my bro-in-law in Lincolnshire today - it was his birthday and we sent a few pounds (the same pounds that go back and forth over the Atlantic and U.S. several times a year I think!). Anyway, he was joking that he'd rushed out with it and put petrol in the car before prices went up again!

  • Alicat - So sorry to hear about Casper. Don’t blame yourself - you looked after him as long as possible.

Margo - Glad you are felling better. Don't do too much too soon.

Jay-Me - Ah ha, another family historian. It’s addictive.

Lynette - Have you enough cakes for 419 bloggers?!!!!

Tiger - How dare your ‘puter go down. What if it had been on Thurs?

Patricia - Great you were able to get out for your birthday lunch.

Undercoat went flying on walls this morn. Never fear, Annette & Diane, OH wouldn’t let g-kids anywhere near the paint tin - he doesn’t even trust me to paint properly (not that I would want to add painting to my "skills").

I survived the teen-sitting. I arrived in time for Sil to serve teens & I dinner before he & Dau went off to their party. [Well-trained, he is. LOL] Miss15 walked [!!] in very high heels up the road to visit a friend. Despite her mother allowing 45 mins, Miss15 said to me "I’ll be back at 7.20 pm". [That’s sunset]. I said "But Mum said 45 mins." Oh she says "I have to add on walking time." I know I was conned but I let it go. Then Master13 talked to me for 20 mins, just like a human. One of his subjects at school sounds like "Sow-sh". I figure he means Social Studies as it seems to be what I knew as History & Geography. Then he retired to his room for the evening, as did Miss15 went she returned, near enough to 7.20. After reading & knitting, I felt like a snooze and got caught out fast asleep on the lounge when Dau & Sil came home early! We sat & talked until midnight - I hope they weren’t expecting an early night.

  • This is our grand-cat, Nutmeg. She is a very aloof lady, definitely a cat.

This includes Miss15 who is now a redhead.

This is our older grand-cat. Sil2 has built Jasper some shelves.

On level 2, with his "mum".

  • AQ;  Things look better even with just the undercoat on the walls - you get a hint of what's to come.  Good that the teens gave you an easy night - with conversation yet! -  with a chance to nap.  Very posh looking puss there!

    Have a nice Sunday all!

  • What a pretty cat Jasper is AQ,  and clearly at home on the new shelving.  Giving her the opportunity to look down on all around her in the disdainful way some cats can!

Clocks not altered in this house yet - but since the alarm goes off at 6.15 every morning I didn't think 7.15 for once on a Sunday was too much of a problem.  The central heating also needs altering - again its set for the same time every day as it is one of those timers with the little teeth that you push in.  It is only on (if the thermostat kicks in) for a half hour in the morning to take the chill off the bathroom, so as long as it is altered before evening it should be OK.

It looks like another dull day here - yesterday was quite cold with a sneaky wind, today was supposed to be better but will wait and see if it is walking weather after lunch.

Yes aquilareen  - another FH buff.  I got the bug several years ago - just before the 1901 census was available.  Very little was available on the internet then.  But I'm still not much further forward with some of my research.

I've had a peep at the nest this morning - empty at the time. Computer behaving itself so far but it was getting annoying last time - I know the bit that runs the video stopped working, I wasn't bothered since it is only silly little ads on the sites I was looking at but the info bar kept shooting the pages down every time i opened a new page.  Loads of people seem to be having the same problem with Chrome & are demanding a fix, & quite a lot of them are abandoning chrome for another browser.  I may well be one of them soon.  Can't have my osprey watching disturbed - I get little enough with no laptop & work all day through the week (may have to see if laptop is repairable at not to great a cost or perhaps get a netbook or something)

Have a good day fellow bloggers :)  - nearly church time now.

  • thank you for all your condolences regarding Casper

  • PATRICIAT   well done to Tweed and glad you enjoyed your birthday... I still have the Elysian Fields leaflet from when Fingal was cremated 4 years ago. It has the Rainbow Bridge in it. Every now and then I bring myself to read it and it brings tears to my eyes but in the nicest way.

OG  glad to hear about sons voluntary work in museum. Should help him in lots of ways.

  • Morning all,

Alicat : I am very sorry to hear about Casper.

Thanks for all the chat etc.

Not been on this thread for a few days as I have also had computer problems. Mainly with RealPlayer which seems to have stopped working so I cant record any clips. I have tried to get it working by reloading most of my software and bringing it all up to date but nothing seems to work. Having read other forums on the matter I am not the only one with this problem. I have found a way round it but it is a bit messy at the moment.

After a few nice days when we got the gardening done the weather has turned dreich again.
