Weekly Chat, Sunday March 20, 2011

Evening/Morning all: Another week! This keeps happening. Checked out the sky tonight but no moon, just more low cloud and rain. Went to Botanic Garden with friend for putter today and got rained on. Two years ago the Garden was severely damaged in the Jesusita Fire and even though you can see the charred lower trunks of the trees, the tops appear to be thriving and the ground below the trees is jammed with new growth, mainly cheerful Canyon sunflowers in full bloom. An amazing sight so soon after such a destructive fire.  On another note, granddaughter, baby, and OH now home and a bit anxious about being "alone" with tiny person, though daughter has been there most of the day.

ChrisyB: Hi there. Don't worry about keeping up - I think it's going to get harder for everyone. Good that the owls are safe and cared for.

Margobird: My sister and her OH went to Malta one year to get some sun and ran into the worst winter storm the island had for years. During the gale, the French doors on the balcony of their hotel room blew open and shattered and rain poured in, then the power went out. Definitely not the "cruise" they signed up for!

jsb: I did as you suggested and - hey presto! - there's the nest. Thank you so much! Thing is, I still can't see it on the RSPB's Loch Garten Live page. Have looked at all kinds of dialog boxes and can't ID which box I should check or un-check. It's all so complicated.

SheilaFE: Welcome back! Hope you had a great time.

Chloe: That's a lovely shot of the moon, regardless of its perigee-ness!

Alan: Amazing shots of Mr. and Mrs. Eagle feeding their kiddies. They must've been to parenting classes.

Gary: Hectic eh? I can only imagine! (I have a photo of my grandson at age 9 months fast asleep under a chair after a busy afternoon exploring the living room).

patriciat: New little girl has very "big" name of Delilah Grace. Not sure how I feel about that - the only Delilah I know of had a boyfriend called Samson and their relationship was more than a little dysfunctional, Still, yet another opportunity to be flexible and keep my mouth shut. :-)

Very heavy rain forecast for tomorrow; in a way that would be good, since I have lots of things to sort through to either sell or send to local charity groups and hate to be indoors when the sun is out.

Who knows what the next week will bring?  :-)

  • It was 3c when we went to church at 8.30am but the sun is now shining with a very cool breeze.

Some happy news from Japan, where an 80 year old lady and her 16 year old grandson have been rescued, 9 days after the earthquake and tsunami. I keep checking for the latest news on Lybia.

Annette, Good to hear all is well with your granddaughter and she is now home with her baby and her OH. It can be daunting to find yourself responsible for the baby, having been in hospital with all the help you need, but I am sure she will be fine having her Mum around. I wonder if the baby will always be called  Delilah or will it be shortened, but I can't think what it could be.
Well done to Diane for sorting your computer problem for you.
Definitely don't like the sound of your weather. I hope there will be no garden damage.

Terry/ Margo, We have sparrows making nests in two of our bluetit boxes. We don't normally have sparrows in the garden as they live in the hedgerows around the farmland, but they did this last year and have returned again.

Chloe, Excellent moon photograph. I love the way you have caught the drifting cloud. I haven't even looked at OH's yet, so I didn't put any pics. on here last night.

Margo, I hope the sun has now appeared. Sorry to hear about your sister's accident. She has enough to worry about. Poor nephew's wife receiving such bad news after being told otherwise. You take care of yourself after all this bad news, being ill and a ruined holiday !

Sheila, HAVE A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
Just imagine that the alarm waking you up was your Royal gun salute to mark your birthday, although you have reminded me to book our alarm service. I did reply to you last night requesting news of your holiday, but I see we have to wait a while longer. Enjoy today.

Hi Hazlewoods, Good to see you back on here with your cockatiel assistants.

Joan, What a lovely card for Sheila. I am sure she will love it.

My OH seems to need my advice in the garden. Speak again later.

  • Justg one quick post for now to say Happy Birthday SheilaFE albeit it a bit late in the day.  Sorry you got woken so early.  Off to prepare dinner now see you tomorrow.

    Margobird

  • Hi all what a lot has been going on since I last wrote on here.

Decamped from Bath to just north of Lulworth Cove...sunshine has followed me from one place to the next. Swapped dogs so now with Daisy the EBT. Bonus is she walks a lot faster than Dylan the basset.

Hope everyone has had a good day...Happy Birthday Sheila.

  • HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE - ONLY 4 DAYS TO GO TO PREDICTED RETURN

Thanks for all your news and a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHIELA.

Day started off dull but turned out quite pleasant with cloud and sunshine. Was on duty at Junior Church today. We now have new co-ordinators so hope they will be able to get things moving and input their ideas without too much opposition from the Ministerial section.  Have to wait and see.

Alan - lovely captures at Barnwell.

Margobird - sorry to hear about your sister but thankfully she puts a cheerful face on and perseveres. Lets hope the treatment will greatly help her. Thoughts and prayers with you all.

Annette - nice names for great grandaughter or is it great, great. Have you gone to the main RSPB page and looked under birds and wildlife for webcams.  Click on that then click on birds of prey and it should come up with Loch Garten Ospreys.  Hope you can get it up.

Back later as going to watch Dancing on Ice.
