Thanks for posting this, jsb : )
Thanks for that, Alan. Do we know if they're going to tag the chick/s this year? Looking at that photo of the nest it occurs to me that access isn't going to be easy!
Sandy: I have not heard any talk about tagging the chicks this year so I suspect not. Compared to last year the amount of information coming from the project is minimal. Last year we had weekly podcasts.
Alan, the lack of information could simply be down to the fact that there's very little to pass on. Changing nests has certainly made it very difficult for them to observe exactly what is going on in the nest. Similarly, there may be some doubt as to the possibility of ringing/tagging simply because of the difficulty in accessing the nest.
Latest from Bassenthwaite:
"Ospreywatch 20:51 MrO back with fish, probably caught in Thirlmere.Mrs O feeding herself & chicks.perfect timing, full stomachs near nightfall"
Nice to get all these updates from various nests, thanks Alan, and others.
I did a quick trip to Whinlatter today and was pleased to see that they have some footage to show on the big screen, taken by a protection member through a telescope and edited to dvd. As they say, a bit wobbly but the two adults are clear to see. The opinion is that there is more than one chick, good news. Oh yes, as Sandy said, it was mentioned that access for ringing could be difficult !

I visited Bassenthwaite back on May 29. They have a tagging fund so I presume they are going to tag the chicks this year.
BTW people may not be aware but they started to build that new nest before they departed on their migration last year. It was as almost as if they had decided to move for some reason.
