Thanks Chloe B. The nest is about 50 yards from me & favourite branches about 40 yards. Lens is Canon 100-400IS. I have used bigger lens but personally I find the extra weight prohibitive.

Thanks Alan for the link to Caerlaverock hope that black plastic does not casue any problems.
Margo - last year, the black plastic didn't cause any problems at Caerlaverock, but the single chick the previous year had a bad experience with some then. It seems AW is quite obsessed by it and always incorporates it into the nest. Unfortunately, farmers are to blame for leaving it when they scatter winter feed for their stock, then it blows about and catches on trees and hedges..
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
