Further info at about 5:00pm:
" It hatched at 12 noon today and is still to be fed, this weather is not good for catching fish in, so EP will have his work cut out."
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Not news as such, but I thought it was a good informative piece from WWT.
"Safe in a Gale
With our two eggs due to hatch in the next few days, perhaps we should be glad they are still safe in their eggs, not being exposed to this weather as hypothemia is a major killer of young osprey chicks, as of course their down is not waterproof.
Further update from Wigtown Bay:
The good news continues, there is a hole in a second osprey egg at Wigtown Bay, will there be 2 chicks when we wake up tomorrow? Hope so E
Nest at Bassenthwaite has survived the gales (they were quite worried when I was there on Saturday). They are hoping 1st chick hasn't hatched yet, as there's a lot of mud in the lakes and fishing will be difficult.
More good news from Wigtown Bay:
"I am please to report a second osprey chick at Wigtown, both are being fed trout for breakfast. Fingers crossed for the third!!! E"
Update from Aberfoyle. Hatching due around 30th May:

Good news from Wigtown Bay Alan but I hope the weather will improve at Bassenthwaite because of the difficult fishing situation.

Wigtown Bay update:
"Chicks 1&2 are doing well, EP is bringing in fish for them all and even trying to feed H/D, he is not sure what to do with the chicks E :-)"
