The very first osprey that Roy Dennis ever tracked was called S06. He relates the story on page 98 of "Life of Ospreys".
The transmitter was set up to start send signals starting in late August. When these signals came in she was already at a reservoir near Madrid. At the time this was thought to a stopover but gradually it was realised that her migration had already taken place and she was at her winter quarters.
She was tracked again the following year with the (new) transmitter better programmed. Roy mentions her on his blog now and again. She must be 20 years old this year.
So maybe overwintering in Spain is not as rare as we once thought.
Tiger Signature
Indeed. Could definitely explain why Marge is doing so well.

Dyfi facebook reporting a second female on nest ALSO with a white Darvic ring!
They mentioned a second female on Tuesday VC. Wouldn't it be great if the other one is a Glaslyn female? :))
Extract from an email I received today from Diane Bennett at Tweed Valley ospreys:

Hear, hear, Chloe - after such a long and frustrating time they deserve all the success they hopefully will get. Its funny, though, they've waited so long for a female and now three come along in quick succession - a bit like buses I suppose!

The second female was a Scottish Osprey, they've sent the details to Roy Dennis. They think that she's now moved on (continued her migration?)
