Weekly Chat, Sunday March 13, 2011

Evening all: Been out all day; now starting to think about dinner.  Back later to catch up.

  • Alan, I am sure you are both happy with the rugby results. I just remembered that your wife is Irish, so you both have reason to celebrate. I do enjoy watching rugby union. Watching the France / Wales match now.
As Tiger says, that is interesting about the eagles, but I don't know if it is something normal for them.

Chrisy, It must have been lovely to have held the owl and stroked it. Thanks for the super photograph.

  • Alan, thanks. That is fascinating

Chrisy, thanks for the owl picture. So sweet

Have you all remembered to look at the moon? OH has been outside photographing it.

Yes I have been out to have a look. Yes it looks bright but one would be hard pressed to notice that it is any different from normal. I am pretty certain that no one would notice if one did not know it was at its closest.

Interestingly I once observed the opposite which was a solar eclipse with the moon very near perigee. Now that was very noticable as it gave a very long eclipse.

ChrisyB  Love the picture of the owl.

Alan   That is very interesting behaviour of the eagles.

Here is my pic of the perigee moon rising...does it look any bigger than a normal full moon?

  • BrendaH - noticed the moon earlier and have now been out to take a pic. A round white light in a black clear sky except we can't see the Milky Way for light pollution.

Alan - what amazing pics, it could be normal behaviour but to witness it is fantastic.

Chrissy - he is gorgeous, the owl, and glad you could have the experience of him on your hand.

  • Chloe B, it looks a super pic and the moon does look bigger !

  • Thanks Lynette. There were clouds around at the time and the light was fading fast so I was lucky to get that one. Not a brilliant view as it climbed higher in the sky, quite fuzzy in fact, like looking through fog. Nothing like as clear as last night.

  • Took a few pics earlier: Hilton Head, Panama, Norfolk, and Lily. Lily and Hope were having a play at the time.

this nest is getting quite scruffy looking

  • One of the bobbleheads decided to have a snooze outside of mum's downy breast.

  • Excellent closeups of the wee one "just leave me alone and let me sleep"

  • ChloeB Really nice picture of the moon.

Lynette  Nice captures particularly the bears.
