Evening all: Been out all day; now starting to think about dinner. Back later to catch up.
Oh Gary - she's just sooooo cute!
Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes. I'm trying to get used to the routine imposed by having carers come to the house 4 times a day, So difficult to fit in the things which have been part of my normal life! I'm hoping we'll be able to do without some of the visits soon, though I do appreciate the help and support.
Annette Any name for the new little person yet?
Afternoon all,
Its been a nice springlike day after early morning frost. This morning we went to Frosts garden centre in Brampton and bought some compost and bird food. It was really busy there today. It' s amazing how the sun brings everyone out. Top temp today was 12.1c. Hamish had a nice walk and rolled about on the grass for a while.
Gary : NIce pics of Toffee. I am surprised the chair legs have not been chewed yet.
Alicat : Thanks for the buggy pics.
Everyone else thanks for the chat. Off to enjoy the last of the sunshine. Must remember to look out for the moon later.
Hello Everyone, I am back, major jobs done and spent hours reading thru all the news, photos, chat and links. Lovely to see some old 'faces' back with us - Cirrus, Wattle and Tiger and welcome some new (to me at least).
Congratulations to BrendaH on being awarded a Good Eggs for February - very well done to you! It must be a relief to know your nephew and his in-laws are safe, but the situation is still a worry. I somehow feel that with all the hype over the nuclear problems, the victims of the earthquake and tsunami are being somewhat forgotten. I appreciate the the situation at the power stations is of major concern but following the tsunami there are thousands of missing people, destroyed buildings, a lack of food, water and infrastructure...
Patriciat I was so sorry to hear of OH's further fall. I must be so distressing for you and your OH, and indeed very tiring for you. I hope the Carers come up to scratch sooner rather than later. Clearly all this worry has not helped when you picked up the chest infection. My thoughts are with you.
Annette congratulations Great Grandma! It is always lovely to get good news.
I am sorry for those who were subjected to yet more snow.
Alan great to have the news of the Hampton chicks, and what a brilliant photos you gave us of the chick and the talons.
AQ I too enjoy New Tricks. I love the dry humour between all the characters. I loved your piece on chocolate - it certainly cleared my conscience!
Lynette I was fascinated by your tin box heirloom.
OG had a great weekend on 'the other side' of the country. I hope you have an interesting time at the conference and enjoy your visit to North Berwick and the Scottish Seabird Centre - I have just checked the web cam, and there are a lot of gannets on Bass Rock just now! Breeding is beginning in earnest. I cannot believe all the hassle you have had with your PV panels/cells. Let's hope the light is at the end of the tunnel now.
Eagle Eye belated birthday greetings. Are you by any chance a 'Patrick'?
Margobird I am so sorry to hear all the negatives of your trip holiday, what with foul weather and your cold. I think that being inside planes really passes all these infections around. We came back with coughs and sniffles which started on Thursday, just two days after our return - fortunately it is more an annoyance than a problem.
Tiger nice to see you again. May thanks for the BBC Osprey links.
DjoanS what lovely photos of Whitley Bay and surrounds. They are heartlifting!
Wendyb glad to hear you are having a great time in Bath. We have a friend who lives not far from Westonbirt and I keep threatening to land ourselves on him in the autumn! I also want to time it with a tidal bore on the Severn. Belated congratulations on your WA!
Dibnlib Good to hear that your Godmother's DiL's relatives are safe. I was also glad to hear that you are managing to get out with Dillon once more, albeit somewhat tentatively. The walk on Lossie beach sounds wonderful. Take care of yourself.
Gary Lovely photos of Toffee. How is the snow situation with you at the moment - has the melt started, or is that too early. Any signs of summer.
Diane I spotted the moon last night and noticed it was bright, but not the significance. I must remember to take another look tonight. We have had a beautiful day here today (the first since our return later afternoon on Monday) which makes such a difference to the general spirit. I am sure it will be clear again tonight - with another frost perhaps.
I am sure I have missed some of you out, but thank you for your chat. I really missed you all when I was away (more of which another time), and although the hotel did have a computer for residents I failed to find enough time to keep in touch other than to quickly scan the odd days blogs. The room was always set for meals in the evening which would have been the ideal time to catch up. However, it is not long now until you know what and other life will have to fit in with osps! Meanwhile, Scotland is in the lead against Italy with Paterson now making it 21-8 - so no Wooden Spoon after all. Whose betting on England v Ireland later? Oh, yes and while on the subject of sport, Alan I was delighted to see that Dundee are continuing to do so well!

Good afternoon all. Lovely day yesterday, OH and I went to Keswick to spend money on boots and waterproofs. Haven't seen Keswick with so few people for ages, we could even walk on the pavement LOL. Today has been good too, two loads of washing dried outside, yay! We have been cutting back a laurel hedge before the birds start building nests in it. Although having said that we saw two bluetits flying in and out of a nest box (and earlier today one of the cats was sitting on top of it, so OH now building a barrier round the tree trunk).
Gary!!! how much sweeter can Toffee get? I want one.
Alicat, Casper is definitely a sweetie too :)
Only a week to go now...
Terry in Cumbria
Just come in from the garden for tea and to watch the England match against Ireland. Beautiful day and we have worked hard in the garden and all the washing hanging outside, but I am sure the towels are not going to dry,
Sheila, Thanks for your ongratulations. Wow, that must have taken you hours to read all the posts from when you went on holiday and then to reply to everyone. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing about your holiday in Switzerland. Yes, Scotland did well winning their match against Italy, as they were behind at half-time.
Gary, Toffee is one very tired and extremely cute puppy.
Brenda H Rugby on in our house, too - but I don't suppose I'm supporting the same team as you! Good result for Scotland against Italy. Hope my siide wins this evening!LoL
Patricia, You are leading 9-0 so not very happy this end.
And not very happy this end either! Good for Patricia, but I think England is extremely sloppy - another try for Ireland!!
I'm not watching Rugby (and probably a good job too).
Lily's highlights for yesterday - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ0Fsnbqw-E Lily and Hope are outside, leaving babies home alone, then about 4:45 they go in and start to play, each of them has her own little furry toy.
Diane thanks for the info on the moon. I looked at it last night and wondered if it had been full on Thursday and if that was why Mia was such a monster at agility. Looked in diary and see it's tonight. Will be out to have a good look at it's been a fantastic day so hopefully it will still be clear.
Patriciat really sorry to hear about your OH's fall. Sounds terrible. I do hope you can get something sorted to help out.
Gary she must have just fallen to sleep where she crashed after play. She's absolutely gorgeous.
Margo glad to hear Billy hasn't disowned you for leaving him for a few days. You have a summer of him basking in your garden to look forward to.
Good day today. Grass cut front and back and it looks so much better for it. I pruned the apple tree( I'm sure it's the wrong time to do it) as much as I could with the long pruners but OH will have to do the rest tomorrow. It's the 1st time I've felt that the grass could take the punishment of steps etc. It's no good as an apple tree as the apples are not nice and it does not produce great numbers but the birds love it and 2 feeders hang from it so it has to stay for now. Mrs SH wouldn't be happy if it wasn't there though I haven't seen her for days. I bet she's settled on a nest somewhere. Perhaps she will point OH in our direction!
It certainly looks like EJ and Odin have their work cut out tidying the nest!
