Evening all: Been out all day; now starting to think about dinner. Back later to catch up.
Oh, there are cute little marmosets eating bananas on the "Regua Cam" on this page. They're adorable.http://www.coolwebcams.net/live/cam1206-1258032449-buenaventura_webcam_in_the_forest.html
Brenda: Thanks for the info - I did read those (shoulda read them before I aske where they were!) Panasonic folks been and gone; replaced the "A board"??? The SoCal area rep says if there's a third problem (we've had two), we'll get a replacement.
Thanks all for links, etc. Gotta grab some lunch then off to whales (unless wind comes up suddenly).

Annette: Here's another good site for Potassium Iodide side effects, dosing, etc. http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-35-iodine.aspx?activeIngredientId=35&activeIngredientName=iodine
Wow, the third times the charm for the telly, eh. :-(
BrendaH I think ******** is a very good way of putting it!
The dog wardens did have a campaign on it a few months back. We back on to a playing field and they had a bag it and flag it campaign. It was amazing. Several council staff came to the playing field, bagged all the poo and put a flag in the ground to highlight the issue. The field was covered in flags for the day. I can't rememer the number but it was 100's. They even found some in the fenced off childrens' play park.
DjoanS those pictures look so inviting.
Alan - so glad to hear that the eyes have settled down. Love Bobblehead!
Annette - I wish Mia would avoid it. It's worse when she has a ball with her as being a collie she will run ahead, drop the ball and then lie down herself in true collie style waiting for me to throw or kick it for her. I don't take a ball out with me for this reason but she sometimes manages to find one that someone else has lost. this is what happened today. She doesn't usually seem to mind though when I make tell her to leave it before we leave the fields so someone else can have a turn.
Useful afternoon in garden – beginning to look more loved at last! OH finally planted the honeysuckles, while I moved seedling trays from propagator and sowed more to go in. Then we both started on clearing rubbish from flower corners by the deck. This was accompanied by a Feral Pigeon who kept circling around our heads between sessions at the feeder. Had a noisy conversation with a Chaffinch later, and then at dinner we were serenaded by wonderful Blackbird music! OH is cleaning current fish tank, I just dealt with credit card payment.
Diane – that Bald Eagle baby is so having a bad hair day compared with the sleek adults we are seeing on the nests! Pleased you have some warmth at last – we had it good today, and latest forecast is more promising than what they showed this morning for tomorrow and Wednesday. Thanks for extra links – can I please have a few more hours in each day to watch them?
Trish – so agree re Dog poop – a trail of three very unhealthy looking offerings just outside our house in the middle of the pavement – yukk!
Brenda – hope you got some sunshine later in the day. Didn’t know pollen went so far – so no getting away from it.
Joan – so glad you took the scenic route home and posted the lovely photos. Thought we were splitting a hol between Durham and Northumberland in August, but Dau#1 said Gdau#2 wants to spend time with us (as well as her sister’s 18th) so shall stay in Co Durham and postpone Northumberland for a full (return) visit next year. Lighthouse pic is particularly stunning.
Alan – will be thinking of the lovely clean Thunderdog on Wednesday – pleased the eye problem seems better.
Annette – we are only about a mile from Chapelcross Nuclear Power Station – now being decommissioned. When we came here, two of the four reactors were still working, and Dau#2 was surprised we came so close, but I said I would rather go with it if it explodes than die slowly from fallout! Fuel rods are slowly being taken away – included weapons grade plutonium and tritium in one reactor. Having it there, does mean our air, sea water and milk are regularly tested for contamination! Hope Whale count went ahead today. Pleased television is “fixed” – but await developments!
Heron – do I sense you are getting excited about something happening in about 10 days?!
Dibnlib – thanks for good wishes; I am okay, just waiting to have injection end of next week and recover my energy levels and feeling of well-being – get them every three months, but effect seems to wear off a few weeks early. Son gets awful colds, and I think being depressed and generally run-down has made it worse for him this year. Your OH is very sensible to delay Puppy until you are fully recovered – after all, you were told it would take a long time to heal properly, and Puppies will be much harder work than Dillon. Puppy and Raptor lady sounds an interesting person! I hope your Godmother’s son and wife are okay.
Hey! Guess what!!! I phoned the solar guy for my weekly chase-up last Friday and he said a meeting at 8pm Thursday had decided on Tuesday for our date – he was “going to phone later” - as usual. This afternoon, I found two men prowling in the front with a camera - they are staying overnight nearby and will be back early tomorrow morning! They were taking photos of some visible fitting errors from the first team. I gave them quite a grilling about their safety procedure as they reckoned to be doing it without an electrician present. When OH pointed out that the panels themselves are not grounded as they should be, they said they would phone the electrician to call in on his way through to Stranraer! Watch this space …!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Just popping in.. maybe for longer tomorrow.
Thanks for you concern everyone about the weather. It was areally horrible 40 hours as that was for how long it snowed. But at the end of all that all we had was 4" ins of white slush as it was thawing underneath as fast as it was falling. Lots of roads closed but today has been a lot brighter and it is now thawing although as I drew the curtains tonight my lawn was still white.
Birds have been ravenous which must be convusing for them as they thought it was spring last week. My highlight were the Siskins...lots and lots of them doing what they always do feed upside down.
Had to go to Elgin as my watch battery died and they had no snow at all.
Trip down south still on schedule but depends on tomorrows weather. Have to be in Bath by Friday as I have just booked a table at by all time favorite restaurant.
Some great pictures of Blackwater in the Washington post. See here.
Tiger Signature
Thanks Tiger. Some brilliant photography. That is the first time I have ever heard of a Hairy Woodpecker. Love the pictures of the Blue Heron, the Snow Geese in such numbers. They are all worth viewing.
Diane, I will keep trying but all I saw were bananas and many flies.
OG, I hope everything, re the solar panels, will be sorted for you tomorrow. Glad you gave the two fellows a good grilling. They should deduct the cost of all your phone calls from the bill. Thanks for your sunshine wish, but the sun never arrived today. Here's hoping for tomorrow.
Wendy, I see there is yet another warning for more snow tomorrow. I really do hope that it doesn't spoil your plans.
We also heard from nephew that his in-laws are getting very little sleep in Japan, as there are still so many tremors.
Just looked in. Thanks for all your news etc.
Diane - just had to chuckle at the Monday smile - he's gorgeous.
Alan - I see you managed another good closeup of the baby feeding, managed to get some pics of her feeding youngun just now.
Brenda - do hope nephew is safe.
Just watching the news makes you thankful that nothing quite so devastating happens like that here. The pictures of when the tsunami hit and destroying everything in its path. Where towns were just match sticks and debris - its heartbreaking to see but at least help was forthcoming very quickly as they are prepared for such eventualities. It can certainly teach us all a lesson - orderly llines at the supermarket, waiting patiently, no looting or violence. I know its not there way but it just shows it can be done without unrest.
