Morning all: Much ballyhooed snow didn't materialize, we had a sunny day but very cold tonight with temps just below freezing. Spent the first couple of hours today online with Dell Tech Support after a website I clicked on (via Google) delivered a spyware program disguised as an anti-virus program (one of those things that suddenly lights up your desktop with alarming messages about threats to your computer). I ignored it and immediately launched McAffee to scan my computer, which found nothing. However, the spyware program (called Internet Security Essentials) wouldn't go away until Dell's remote support took over and did a super-scan and clean up (LOVE that service! So glad I signed up for it!)
Trish: They said it will take a while for the autopsies on the dolphins. Glad your OH remembered his training and sat still, even if Mia forgot!
Diane: Have never heard of the Nevada Triangle. Will certainly keekp an eye out for the program - we're watching DVD of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest right now. The UK is (it's rumored) is warmed by the Gulf Stream, which perhaps accounts for the daffodils, etc., while you're still dealing with weather from what I believe is called the Canadian Shield...
AQ: Our plants are in danger of drowning right now; have moved some of the potted plants under the eaves to protect them from any frost.
Lindybird: Had big laugh at image of you scraping your pizza off the floor - I'm a firm believer in keeping our immune systems challenged!! :-)) I shall be tuned in to the Oscars from the silly "red-carpet arrivals" pre-show all the way to the final curtain call, although I must confess to shouting a lot at the telly during the entire show. I think The King's Speech will do OK; Colin Firth was nominated last year for A Single Man but didn't get it; think he stands a good chance this time round (and if he doesn't get it, you'll hear me yelling at the telly all the way to the UK)!!
Margobird: Your sister sounds like a real gem.
OG: So glad you had a chance to make various plans with son.
dibnlib: "My fried egg has landed upside down on the floor?" Maybe that happens a lot in Russia? :-))
Hi to all I missed. Have a lovely Sunday!
Morning all,
Another dull and dreary day with a cold easterly wind. Current temp 2.6c. At least it is dry. If I were an osprey I would stay in Africa.
Patriciat: I hope your OH gets on all right at the OT.
Lynette : Thanks for the photos of the bears and the mysterious eggs.
AQ : I must admit I still do occasionally hop on the back of the trolley and propel it a few yards forwards when no one is looking. It ranks with Duvet Cover Wrestling as potential Olympic sports.
Not a lot else to report apart from Decorah eagles now have a 3rd egg:

Good morning all another bright day but we started off with quite a hard frost. OHG had to scrape the ice of the car and bird baths were frozen. Warming up a bit now but still a chilly wind.
Started to read posts and then noticed Billy was sat in our back garden which is first, I suspect he was watching the birds but they are quite aware he is there. He knew I was watching him but was enjoying the sun and didn't run away until the postman came.
My sister managed to get some sleep last night for the first time in days. The awful cough has been keeping her awake and she has spent many nights trying to sleep in her front room so her OH can get some sleep.
Lindybird has the right idea in going away, hope she is sitting in some warm sun.
original goldfinch thanks for the info about bun fights. Smiled at the tale of your SIL with the shopping trolley. Hope your son doesn't get too ill with his cold and I wonder if perhaps you have caught it and that is why you are feeling "not quite right". See the Solar saga is still going on and that must be driving you round the bend, so annoying when people say they will ring and then don't.
Lynette more lovely captures and when you log on there is a great video of Lily and family. Jason is one feisty little bear and I think he is going to very bold. Hope stopped him from escaping the den again by pulling him back in by his back leg. They say it didn't hurt him though as made no distress sounds at being hauled back into the warmth of the den. The temperature goes up and down there from freezing cold to quite warm. As I type sounds as though Hope is having a good suckle.
Diane thanks for the update on the Coopers Hawk and link to the release. A very happy ending all round. They are hoping at the Owl Sanctuary that a pair will use the box again this year as male and female have both been observed in the barn.
patriciat sorry about your arthritis, seems so many people suffer with this but then they call it the English disease. I have it in my feet and nands and have done since my middle 40's. Cold damp weather seems to make it worse for me but as yet it is manageable. My doctor said it is best to keep moving if you can as it does help. Hope your OH will get some help from the OT today to make things a bit easier for him and for you of course.
trish 2 we tried to take a pic of Billy about 3 weeks ago when he was fast asleep in a large flower tub, but he is ever alert and by the time we had got the camera focuses on him from our bedroom window he woke. Tried again this morning as he has been sunning himself in our back garden, he was uneasy though and I don't want to make him any more nervous so left him to his own devices. Maybe one day we will be able to get closer to him.
Alan our temperature was -2 overnight so a bit of a shock for OH having to scrape the car and also defrosting the bird baths, been a while since I had to do that. Thanks for the news of the third egg for the Decorah eagles. It always looks and sounds so cold there but I suppose they are used to it and eagles can cope with whatever the weather throws at them. Thanks for the reminder of the 2 osprey cams and also for the osprey pic for today. Hopefully we will be looking at pictures like this soon. I must say once again that I love your sense of humour, smiled when you said you still have a bit of a go on the trolley.
aquilareen hope your shop for decorating stuff goes well and thanks for the healthy excerise quote.
Annette OH says we have to travel as much as we can because we never know what tomorrow might bring. I do not walk as well as I used to, which I find quite frustrating so that is one reason why we are trying to things now. Of course I think about my sister when I say about not knowing what life has around the corner. One minute everything is fine and the next your whole world can be turned upside down.
Have a good day all and take care I am off to watch Billy again now and prepare a bit of lunch for myself.
Margobird
Good morning ALICAT so pleased you and OH are fine together with Casper even if he is being bossed around by Tigger.
Changeover at Dunedin:
There are ospreys on the Hilton Head and Panama City cams at the moment.
Hmm, that all disappeared so try again...
Diane, thanks for Coopers Hawk news. Couldn't watch vid but will try later.
For those expressing an interest in seeing me play the trombone, I have to inform you that there is NO youtube video!!! However, I was involved in a flashmob performance of Ravel's Bolero last year in Eldon Square, Newcastle. You can't really see me, just a quick shot at the beginning before we start, then at the end I am next to the English concertina player. When we see her playing, mine is the tummy next to it! Look for Undercover Orchestra Bolero or this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR5UwyK3a7Y

Forgot to say when I re-posted, I was playing piccolo.
OG she's back in the apple tree waiting patiently!
Thanks for the links. the list of faves is growing longer every day.
