Morning all: Much ballyhooed snow didn't materialize, we had a sunny day but very cold tonight with temps just below freezing. Spent the first couple of hours today online with Dell Tech Support after a website I clicked on (via Google) delivered a spyware program disguised as an anti-virus program (one of those things that suddenly lights up your desktop with alarming messages about threats to your computer). I ignored it and immediately launched McAffee to scan my computer, which found nothing. However, the spyware program (called Internet Security Essentials) wouldn't go away until Dell's remote support took over and did a super-scan and clean up (LOVE that service! So glad I signed up for it!)
Trish: They said it will take a while for the autopsies on the dolphins. Glad your OH remembered his training and sat still, even if Mia forgot!
Diane: Have never heard of the Nevada Triangle. Will certainly keekp an eye out for the program - we're watching DVD of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest right now. The UK is (it's rumored) is warmed by the Gulf Stream, which perhaps accounts for the daffodils, etc., while you're still dealing with weather from what I believe is called the Canadian Shield...
AQ: Our plants are in danger of drowning right now; have moved some of the potted plants under the eaves to protect them from any frost.
Lindybird: Had big laugh at image of you scraping your pizza off the floor - I'm a firm believer in keeping our immune systems challenged!! :-)) I shall be tuned in to the Oscars from the silly "red-carpet arrivals" pre-show all the way to the final curtain call, although I must confess to shouting a lot at the telly during the entire show. I think The King's Speech will do OK; Colin Firth was nominated last year for A Single Man but didn't get it; think he stands a good chance this time round (and if he doesn't get it, you'll hear me yelling at the telly all the way to the UK)!!
Margobird: Your sister sounds like a real gem.
OG: So glad you had a chance to make various plans with son.
dibnlib: "My fried egg has landed upside down on the floor?" Maybe that happens a lot in Russia? :-))
Hi to all I missed. Have a lovely Sunday!

Missing a good dry gardening day because roof insulation men (topping up under government scheme) would arrive anytime from 12:30 till 5:00 – actually arrived about 3pm. Found other stuff to do indoors.
Joan – will have to check out the Barn Owl Trust site – thanks.
Alan – thanks for link to baseball lighting tower Ospreys! Love the expression on Junior’s face on Osprey Advent Calendar!
Now going browsing!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning all:
Cirrus: Great to see you but don't like the sound of all your computer woes! Maybe throw it on the floor and shout at it? (Or even splurge on a new one?)
Djoan: My Mom always talked about Youghal - apparently it was a favorite trip for her family when she was growing up. I've been there once - with her when I was 13. We stayed in a hotel with a bar underneath and were kept awake by happy customers!
Alan: I'm not really into awards - just Wimbledon and the Oscars.
Lindybird: Yummy - and talented of course - Colin Firth gave an amusing, gracious, and understated (most welcome after an evening of rampant superlatives!) speech. The entertainment section of today's Los Angeles Times has a full front page photo of him onstage smiling modestly. What a sweetie! Didn't realize Natalie Portman had so much preparation for her role; will make a point of seeing that movie too.
Thanks for Monday laughs; off to start the day. Take care all.
Afternoon all today has been very spring like with the sun shinning first thing this morning and it is still shinning yet. Had a very pleasant walk through Ravenscraig Park this morning where Diesel met quite a few other dogs but he isn't very fond of other dogs but as I keep him on the lead there was no problems. There is a big field where we normally go for our afternoon walk and he gets off the lead there but he is more interested in sniffing than running about.
On Saturday we had a very nice lunch and a pleasant afternoon chatting and everyone was captivated by Diesel and my niece wanted to take him home with her.

George: A question that I am sure everyone is waiting for the answer to:

Some promising news from the Hilton Head blog today:

Hi everyone, read all the news.
AQ - lets hope the predicted storm for Christchurch is a light one but it still won't help much. Some of the buildings look so precarious.
Lindybird - thanks for the Monday smiles.
Alan - thats why the osprey is on the Dunedin cam all the time - two eggs- how marvellous, lets hope she manages to bring them closer together. Caught her on the cam earlier along with one caught in the sunlight at Hilton Head.

Cirrus - welcome back and do get your comp sorted out, tell it to stop misbehaving!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alan - lovely capture of the falcon at San Jose.
Glad to see The Kings Speech won 4 Oscars - a low budjet English film made at the studios where the British Film Industry is housed and the government want to scrap it - shame on them. Maybe this will change their minds.
Alicat - thanks for the Lily links will look at them soon. Nothing much doing there at present.
One or two eagle and wildlife pics coming up;
